Just like the Cash cow the X-Trail gets a slightly makeover.

https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/876032-2018-Nissan-Qashqai-(Cash-cow)

The Nissan X-Trail is number one for Nissan. A highly capable five or seven-seat crossover aimed at adventure-loving families, it's the brand's best-selling vehicle worldwide.

Including the USA, where the car is badged Rogue, more than 3.7 million have been sold since the first Nissan X-Trail was launched in 2000. That includes almost half a million cars in Europe, where the X-Trail remains hugely popular. Approximately 115,000 units have been sold in Europe since the all-new third-generation model was launched in 2014, and demand has grown significantly year on year; sales doubled from 2014 to 2015, and the total rose again by another 40% the following year.

It is also a record-breaker. Including Rogue sales, in FY16 the X-Trail was the world's most popular SUV, with 766,000 vehicles sold - more than any other rival model.

The Nissan X-Trail has continued to evolve; in 2016 Nissan launched the car with a new 2.0-litre 177PS diesel engine, broadening the range to meet the needs of consumers who require a higher-output powertrain.

Not surprisingly, the Nissan X-Trail is a hit with its owners. The car has an outstanding 8.9 out of 10 customer rating with independent ratings organisation Reevoo.

As with all Nissan vehicles, every upgrade - no matter how large or small - has been undertaken with the customer in mind. The result is the new X-Trail, featuring a distinctive and robust exterior design, higher-quality interior refinement, extra practicality for owners and innovative new technologies.

Nissan X-Trail facelift - 3rd Quarter 2017

Like its smaller sibling, the Nissan X-Trail gets a similar makeover later this year with the focus falling on a modernised exterior, upgraded cabin (materials and tech), and more advanced safety assistance systems. We suspect there might be a change on the engine front, as well.

Always liked this car but when I went around looking for one couldn't get the auto box with the kit I wanted, only came in manual. Very capable car though

This (and the current model) is probably one of the best, if not the best looking SUV around today. I wouldn't mind one, and I'm not much of a Nissan fan at all.

As lovely as the current X-Trail is I still say if you don't need 7 seats then the Cashcow is better. Better looking; cheaper & better smaller turbo gasoline motors.

Unless you can get it for a good price with all the extras in 4x4 guise... The extra boot space is also a boon and the rear leg room really is phenomenal. There are many reasons to choose the X-Trail above the Qashqai apart from the extra row of seats.

Nissan X-Trail 2.0 DCI 177 Tekna 2017 review

Should I buy one?

The X-Trail is a million miles from being a hot rod and will hold little interest for anyone who wants to be engaged with their mode of transport. But it looks good, can handle light off-roading (it was pretty effortless on mountainous fire trails in Austria), has a nice interior, a very usable cabin and boot and is comfortable and pleasurably undemanding.

You can see why it has become the world’s biggest-selling crossover, offering an impressive amount at a discount to premium-brand rivals. But it’s frustrating that Nissan has failed to offer the same upgrades in refinement - especially for this diesel version - that did so much for the new Qashqai.

Nissan X-Trail 1.6 DIG-T 2017 UK review

Should I buy one?

The updated X-Trail is sufficiently capacious and rugged to satisfy most buyers in this segment and yet a tight turning circle and light controls make it a benign prospect even on narrow roads.

Nissan has struck an impressive balance, then, but is its flagship SUV really the perfect car for family adventures? Not if you enjoy driving and not if you're expecting the last word in refinement.

Refreshed Nissan X-Trail: pricing for revised SA range

The updated Nissan X-Trail has arrived in South Africa.

The third-generation Nissan X-Trail was recently handed a facelift, and now the updated version has arrived in South Africa. The revised local range grows from five to eight derivatives, with three seven-seater derivatives now also available.

As before, the local line-up kicks off with a naturally aspirated 2,0-litre petrol engine worth 106 kW and 200 N.m (up ever-so-slightly from the outgoing range), with drive sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.

Next up is the 1,6 turbodiesel engine, which makes 96 kW and 320 N.m. In seven-seven-seater guise, this model is front-wheel-driven, although a higher-spec all-wheel drive derivative (with five seats) is also offered. Both feature six-speed manual gearboxes.

The third and final engine in the range is the 2,5-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit, which makes 126 kW and 233 N.m (again, up slightly on the outgoing version of the engine) and provides urge to four derivatives. It is available only in 4×4 guise (it can furthermore optionally be had with seven seats) and also powers the range-topping variant, which employs a continuously variable transmission.

All models come with a six-year/150 000 km warranty and a three-year/90 000 km service plan. We’ll update this story once we hear more about standard specifications of each of the four trim levels…
