i'm gonna wait and see what the Koleos is like. I assume they still share underpinnings like previously?
 
Of course, still no media hype by Renault to make people aware its coming and prepare for it. Watch when it's here they'l probably take out one advert in a newspaper and then claim it "doesn't sell well".

After what they did to the Laguna in this country their marketing team should be tar'd and feathered.
 
The chick in that latest Aussie review I linked is smoking some good herb. Mentions the X-Trail has a foot operated parking break/brake....lol

There are two test units in the country. If I recall correctly, a blue and a white one.

Haven't seen them personally but mates who work at Renault have.

I have no clue when we will see them for sale...

Nissan ditches plan to build next X-Trail in the UK

Nissan has scrapped plans to build its new X-Trail SUV in Britain and will produce it solely in Japan, warning two months before Brexit that uncertainty over Britain's departure was making it harder to plan for the future.

Falling demand for diesel cars in Europe has forced Nissan to invest in other technologies and save costs. It cut hundreds of jobs at its Sunderland factory in the north of England, Britain's biggest car plant, last year as output slumped 11 percent, hit by levies and crackdowns on diesel.

"Nissan has increased its investments in new powertrains and technology for its future European vehicles," the firm said. "Therefore the company has decided to optimise its investments in Europe by consolidating X-Trail production in Kyushu."

"While we have taken this decision for business reasons, the continued uncertainty around the UK's future relationship with the EU is not helping companies like ours to plan for the future," said Nissan Europe Chairman Gianluca de Ficchy.

Britain's business minister Greg Clark said the announcement was a "blow to the sector and the region."

Britain is due to leave the European Union on March 29. Lawmakers last month rejected Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit deal, heightening fears of a disorderly no-deal Brexit and of new trade barriers. May said on Sunday that she would seek a "pragmatic solution".

In a letter to workers, de Ficchy said Nissan has a task force that reports to him and is "considering all of the possible scenarios and the potential impact on the business."

Nissan builds roughly 30 percent of the country's 1.52 million cars and exports the vast majority to the continent

Back in 2016, just four months after Britain voted to leave the EU, Nissan announced that it would manufacture the new X-Trail in Britain - a major vote of confidence in the country and May, shortly after she took office.

A source told Reuters at the time that Nissan received a letter from the government promising extra support in the event that Brexit hit the competitiveness of the Sunderland plant.

According to the Sunday Times newspaper, ministers are now considering whether to withdraw a 60 million pounds (R1.04bn) package of support for the company.

"This kind of support package to help in areas such as training and skills is typical across the industry. Clearly we will be reviewing it in the light of this decision," a government source told the newspaper.

The new X-Trail could have created hundreds of jobs.

The carmaker's planned investment in the next-generation Juke and Qashqai models, which was also announced in 2016, was unaffected, Nissan said on Sunday.

The announcement came just two days after an EU-Japan free trade agreement kicked in, which includes the European Union's commitment to removing tariffs of 10 percent on imported Japanese cars.

Many Japanese companies had long seen Britain as the gateway to Europe, after being encouraged to open factories in the country by former prime minister Margaret Thatcher. Brexit has thrown that into doubt, prompting consternation in Tokyo.

Sunday's announcement also came as the carmaker continues to deal with the fallout from the arrest of its former boss Carlos Ghosn, which has clouded the outlook for the car-making alliance between Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi.

Also considering a X-Trail but will wait for some comment on the engine, especially the acceleration.
 
I've got that model.
My non-petrolhead feedback:

I really love the car, it's got everything and more.
Really smooth ride and the CVT gearbox is seamless for me.
Lots of space, nice interior.
No problems with anything after almost 4 years/80k.

Having said that, I dont think the engine is great - 2.5 Petrol is probably not the best idea, but it was the only auto when I was looking. The acceleration is fine, but sometimes it feels like it 'over-revs' when pushing it.

But having said that, I'm still happy. Consumption is around 9.0 l/100km, based on 40% freeway driving.

Thanks for your response. It doesn't seem like they have changed their motor on the new facelift. Im looking to buy second hand but must be 2018. The looks and interior are to my liking, just concerned about the issues. Although it is a compelling 6yr/150k warranty, i would not be happy with leaving the vehicle frequently at the dealership. Will test drive soon. Thanks again.
 
Test drove a demo 2.5 tekna today. Very nice car, good value for the price. Unfortunately it was let down by a non turbo model and I could feel the lack of power. Also the steering was not heavy enough. It's a pity. This was a deal breaker for me.

Nissan South Africa has quietly rejigged its X-Trail range, dropping the entry-level version of the diesel derivative and making the base petrol variant a seven-seater as standard.

With the front-driven 1,6dCi Visia derivative no longer offered (this 96 kW/320 N.m engine remains in the 1,6dCi 4x4 Tekna, though), the line-up has been trimmed from seven to six variants.

New Nissan X-Trail uncovered in leaked patent drawings

Nissan is in the process of renewing its entire SUV lineup, and following last year’s reveal of the second-generation Juke, the next in line for a redesign is the X-Trail.

The new X-Trail is set to be revealed later this year, but we now have a very good idea of how it will look, assuming that these patent drawings are the real deal. As first spotted by Motor1, the drawings were allegedly leaked from Brazil’s economic ministry while awaiting copyright approval.

While the design seems to be a logical evolution of today’s X-Trail, it does take a bolder approach at the front end, with a two-tier lighting system inspired by the latest Juke.

The sketches also seem to correlate with previous spy shots, which reveal the large grille and headlight design as well as parts of the more digitised cabin.

Inside, the X-Trail sports a larger and more prominently positioned central touchscreen as well as digital instrumentation.
