Ah all right ... so there are no weapon/armor drops from dungeon bosses etc. that people die over getting?
I remember going all over with my Dervish to collect silly scrap material for different collectors to make me new armor ... do you get your top level armor from Vendors too?
EDIT: I just read now that you don't get gear drops, but rather cap Elite skills from Bosses... VERY INTERESTING. So you kill bosses to increase skill - not gear. I like it!
I just wanted to answer this more directly...
Yes, there are weapons that drop from dungeon bosses too, infact pretty much any boss drops their own
Unique weapon, which is
green. It is only really Prophecies bosses that do not drop any unique weapons, only the bosses in Grenth's Footprint and Sorrow's Furnace drop greens... Oh and some bosses in the Crystal desert (Kepkhet)... Sorrow's part was added later to the Prophecies game as a free content update, dubbed as an elite area.
In certain dungeons, like in EotN, you get reward chests at the end of the dungeon which gives you a drop chance of getting the Boss's specific
Unique (green) weapon or a rare
Gold weapon. Some of these
Gold weapons sell for quite a bit of gold, i.e. Voltaic Spears, Bone Dragon Staffs, Silverwing Recurve Bows (best animation!) - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rWjTxieMfQ&NR[/ame]
This is the weapons players go for if they want to pimp their char. A perfect (req 9) Bone Dragon staff and Silverwing Recurve bow can cost you easily several hundred ectos.
Bosses / reward chests do not drop armor.
All Bosses also have Elite Skills for their profession, which you can capture from them once they are dead, using a special Signet, Signet of Capture.
As you probably know by now, each class of Boss have their specific color you can identify them with, Necromancer boss is dark green, ranger is light green, warrior is yellow, etc.

Each Boss will carry a specific Elite skill from a Specific attribute line.
You can also learn Elite Skills from Elite Tomes, if you have the Elite unlocked on your account. You can unlock skills on your account and for a specific character with what is called Balthazar faction. You earn Balthazar faction by playing PvP. Normal skills cost 1000 Balth to unlock and Elite skills 3000. You can also unlock heroes this way.
Once skills are unlocked on your account, it becomes immediately available to be used by your heroes (only NF and EotN have Heroes).
Normal Armor / Elite Armor you must craft at Armor Crafters, with certain specific normal and rare crafting materials and some gold needed. The more Elite the armor, the more expensive, of course.
Much like max weapons (having the same damage), max armor all have the same protection, some just look better than others. It is personal preference really.
Most of the Elite Armors are further into each of the Campaigns -
Droknars Forge is the first place in Prophecies you can buy Max normal armor, and then Granite Citadel / Marhan's Grotto for Elite armors.
In Factions, you can buy max armor in Kaineng City, and the Elite armors are in Vasburg Armory and Leviathan Pits and then also at the end-game of Factions, in the Divine Path.
In NF, you get max armor at the Consulate Docks (virtually straight off noob-island) and Elite armors at quite a few places, of which the first is Sunspear Command Center, then Kodash Bazaar, then Bone Palace, and then the end-game area.
In EotN, you get elite max armor all over, but at the different factions (Norn in Gunnar's Hold - Asuran in Rata Sum - Monument (Vanguard) in Eye of the North - Deldrimor (Dwarven) and Silver Eagle armor in Central Transfer Chamber) each gives you their kind with specific skins and looks, you must have rank5 in the appropriate title line for each faction to get the armor.
The Core Elite armor is found in Fissure of Woe. Which is called Obsidian Armor -
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Obsidian_armor.
It is considered to be the most expensive armor ingame, requiring 60k for all the pieces in gold and then between 105 - 120 ectos and 105 - 120 Obsi shards, depending on what char it is and then some more normal crafting material. The price of this armor becomes evident when 1 Ecto is between 4-5k and obsi shards 1-2k, so the full armor is easily worth about 900k.
Well not too bad, especially if you consider that Chaos Gloves -
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Chaos_Gloves - is 10k in Gold and 75 ectos on its own, this is alone about 300k+.
You can even pimp your heroes armor in NF and EotN with special green crafting material and certain armor crafters.
And that is that about weapons, skills and armor. Very basic.
