Continuing from the "Spore has landed" thread and in response to Keeper's post:

Sorry Spore fans but I have to chip in here.

No, you have 24 Games, I have >100 Games.

Also, I did not spend close to R14,000 on PC Hardware :p

------

BTW, Xbox owners also need to buy a few Upgrades, like a PC User would upgrade his Monitor, you need to do that as well. Sound/Speakers also - unless you like to play Crash Bandicoot on sucky TV Sound :D

So, if you have >100 games, but spend your cash on (mostly) hardware, those games were purchased in what way? ;)

Regarding the "upgrades" for the XBOX, those are in the eye of the beholder. If I choose to play on my "sucky" TV, I can do so - I still get the highest possible "graphical settings" for my games, despite a lower resolution. A PC gamer can choose to play games on a small screen with "sucky sound" as well... The crux of the matter is the power of your chosen "gaming box": Can you play the game with the highest graphics settings running at 30 fps+?

BTW: Who plays Crash Bandicoot?!

LOL! WTF! I'm ok with Xbox, if one day I'm totally forced and there is no other option what-so-ever that I can continue PC gaming, I would go for a Xbox instead of a PS3.....
Untill then...... PC FTWR!!!!!!!! :D
Fanboi SPAM!

Also are you angry that we can get our games in a different way??? :p LOLz

Not angry, just empathetic... Software developers spend loads of cash developing games (and other software), just so the ethically-challenged can rip them off...

is true ........ software and games piracy I'm totally against.

I'm totally against piracy in any form - I even buy every single music CD if I like the artist/music. The only free music/MP3s I have are those provided freely on websites by the artists themselves.

The same goes for movies and series - I like having the "complete package". So much time and energy also goes into the artwork of packaging that I appreciate it as well. It even inspires me in my own work sometimes!

Not all games at 30+ fps, but I do still play more than 2 games per month. way more. But, I havent upgraded in quite a while - gonna get my Q6600 and New motherboard (DDR3, 8xSATA2, 2 x 16X PciEx2.0 + Crossfire, 45nm Chipset at 1600FSB) soon enough though..

also, while you are bored after 2 weeks of your R600+ game, i'm busy playing on my 5th game for the month, surfing, downloading, chatting on skype, watching series, movies and anything you can think of.

I know xbox has an internet connection as well, but a little mini-baby internet does not count, sorry, but it doesn't.

Ever heard of CSS or DotA? it's not available on Console, so you probably haven't...:p

I say give credit where credit is due, if the game is a good game and looks like they spent a fair amount of time to make then they can have my money. I don't see much point in buying a game that was badly ported from a console version to pc just cause the developer wants more money...

I agree, but I like to be able to test a game before buying it - most, I would never go out and buy.

but piracy aside, PC kicks xbox's ass. sorry, but with a pc you can do so much more, and the Graphics ARE better if you have some extra cash to spend on your rig.
sorry if you don't have money to buy a fast enough PC, but for the guys that own uber systems, i'm sure they would choose pc's if it came down to that.

I know of CSS and DotA... Not my type of thing. The XBOX isn't only for games, ya know... I can very easily watch movies and series on it (streamed via Windows Media Center) to the XBOX and - lo-and-behold - listen to MP3s ON IT!

For surfing and downloading, I have my HP Pavilion laptop - more than adequate for normal "media" usage. I doubt I'll have to upgrade it every year to keep up with the "demanding" requirements of next-gen browsers...

But the point I'm making is this: the XBOX is for gaming. It's a gaming console, not an internet surfing console. For gaming, it's much cheaper and easier to keep up with the gaming crowd.

You know me better than anyone else on this board - I used to be a devout PC gamer. I used and abused games, because I could also get the "for free". Since spending my hard-earned salary on a game every few months, I've learned to appreciate and explore the games more intently. The Achievements system also adds a lot to a game - the constant hunt for that last 10GS keeps you coming back to a game. Where I used to spend around 10 hours in a PC game, I now easily spend 30+ hours on an XBOX game.

Left hand: CSS - Right Hand: GTA4... mmmmm, yeah, I'll take what's in the right hand thanks Bob.

That's all I'm saying.

Why would anyone in their right mind choose to pay R700 for a game, when pc games are R350 for a AAA new release?

Madness I tell you.

pc vs xbox is like comparing apples vs pears.
I prefer pc because I can justify to my wife why i`m spending money on a pc, can't do that with a console :P

anyway.... i`m too old for tv games

there is a cool trade thing going with console games though ........ just saying that a month or two later you can get titles for the price of a PC game or much less.

how do you play stratigy or first person games without a mouse? thats madness!

the "pc is too expensive" argument is silly.
Don't tell me you don't have a pc at home... why didn't you just buy a R3000 graphics card?

So if you have a pc anyway, why spend the thousands on an xbox to pay R700 for games when you can get pc games for R350?

If you build yourself a decent pc every 3 years you should upgrade. Not before. By then the next console is out and you have to upgrade again anyway.

The money you save buying cheaper more than makes up the slightly higher starting cost. Not to mention most people have a pc anyway. So the starting cost is really just a decent GFX card.

That's a negative, not a positive. Being able to watch movies, browse the net and play games is far cheaper than having a pc and a console.

Are you mad?

I've seen some PS3 games for R750.

That's just insane.

You also mentioned you have a laptop and a console. Why spend double when I can do both. Just add the cost of your 360+laptop+tv.

It's madness. It's like you're paying for right for expensive games.

Insane.

you'd be surprised how easy you pick up the controls for a FPS with a console ... it'll never replace the mouse/kb combo bt it's not that bad either.

Actually that's too expensive.

A 4850 is R2000 while a 9600gt is R1400.

u can get a 4870 for about R3000, which should last you longer than 4 Xbox games (+-R2800)

@Qwikslver: Like I mentioned, I've been in the PC gaming crowd for most of my life - it was an expensive hobby. I could never play the hottest games at the highest details at the highest resolutions, because my gear was just never good enough. Since I got my XBOX, it's been bliss. I buy a game (or rent it from BT - very cheap, IMHO) or even borrow one from a friend and play it. No installation problems, no compatibility issues, no initial setup. Just pop it in the tray and away I go... That sealed the deal for me.
