The obligatory PC vs. XBOX thread...

@Keeper, to quote your sidekick Jabberqocky, "D3 is an action RPG, not a normal RPG"

So you cant have that either

lol @ starwars.. like we havent got enough starwars already

if mass effect is an rpg then mario kart is an F1 simulation

to get to a conclusion, lets devide this thread in a few sections, and discuss them seperatly.

- Ease of Controls.
- Graphics.
- Game Titles that other system doesn't have.
- Annual Price to Game.
- Ease of Finding gamers to play Multiplayer.

what do you guys say? up for it?

You're still avoiding the my main argument. You said the XBOX doesn't have RPG games, I said it does. Please don't pull a red herring on me.

Most of Those aren't exclusive titles anyway - we have them too - plus more...loads more.

I still stick to my argument, RPG rules on a PC.

I would argue that "PC RPG"s and Console RPG's have grown up separately, and a lot of PC players scoff at the likes of Final Fantasy, because the Japanese aesthetic is so different, but in fact they can be as complex and mind numbingly boring as Baldurs Gate ever was (couldn't snore past the 3rd chapter myself ;) )

Every Tom Dick and Harry can write a PC RPG because it's an open platform. Quantity doesn't mean quality.

I won't argue whether it's "best" or not because that's highly subjective, but the 360 has a fantastic range of RPG's for all comers.

There's the "on PC's"
Oblivion, Two Worlds, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Sacred 2 (Dragon Age is also coming to console)

And the (Console) exclusives:
Too Human, Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery, Operation Darkness, Tales of Vesperia, Fable 2, Last Remant, final fantasy 13 and Star ocean 4

While you could argue pure numbers I contend the 360 has the widest variety of RPG's instead of playing the same diablo rip-offs over and over again.

EDIT: the fact remains, as long as publishers make more on 360 than they do on PC, more and more developers are going to keep moving their products across.

oblivion/mass effect are brilliant games. brilliant rpgs. not my flavour (prefer baldurs gate and nwn) but still, you cant take away the fact that they are mindblowing. i thought i would hate fps style rpgs, and that is the reason i held out on oblivion - boy was i wrong. having said that, i still prefer the classical rpgs to the fps inspired ones, but i will not bash mass effect (bioware ftw)

addendum: civ revolutions sucks. period. sorry, but that is not civ - just a pale imitation of what was a great game (and yes i have played it*cringe*). hardcore civ fanboi here - dont mess with me :P

QFT! Just a reminder again to all opposing me regarding the availability of RTS and RPG on XBOX - The original claim was that the XBOX is lacking certain gaming genres, like RTS and RPG. I retaliated, stating that the XBOX does indeed have RPGs and RTSs. Period. I didn't argue the quality or quantity of them, just the fact that they DO EXIST.

I could also claim the PC is "lacking certain gaming genres", like Fighting Games and Racers, purely because the amount (and quality) of fighters and racers on the PC is abysmal. But, I won't argue that, because there ARE *SOME* DECENT TITLES AVAILABLE ON THE PC.

Please read my above post. I never argued the quality or quantity of RPGs on the XBOX, just the fact that they DO EXIST. I can counter-argument yours by stating Fighters and Racers rule on XBOX. It's irrelevant on which platform a chosen genre is better. All platforms have pretty much any genre available. So the genre-availability on a platform is a non-issue.

Not correct on the Dragon Age part. They have said a game in the franchise of DA will come to the consoles They haven't said the same game that pc gamers are getting will come to console.

Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, Dead or Alive, Virtua fighter etc etc.

lol...:D

I prefer grown up Games with a mouse that requires thinking, not some button mashing kids games.

Oh well...guess I'll just stick to SC2. no xbox/wee for me, thanx.

LOL...shame mate, to come back with a retort like that...
But anyway...different strokes for different folks, since you are a fanatical fanboy, there is no reasoning with you.
