The official Battlefield 4 thread

I've been playing on Xbox360 whilst I build my PC (and wait for the bugs to be fixed :) ) and I've seen there are quite a few people who have had their console freeze. I had played for about 10 hours without a single freeze, and then last night, in all my wisdom I decided to activate one of the battlepack boosts. Freeze x3 already. :(

Looks like I'm not going to activate any boosts anytime soon

Anyones update speed just drop? i was sitting at 250kb but its just dropped to 90. and at one stage was sitting at 7 :wtf:

seems like the patch made the game worse for me.. constant dc's now and keep getting "something went wrong" errors.. NO *&%^*&%^ SHERLOCK...

goddam EA...

Shanghai doesnt crash for me when i drop the tower :)

Game still lags to crap! still getting sub 30fps on all low... pathetic..

EDIT: new browser plugin now.. and 64 players maps still lag like crazy :/

Ok, first server I joined was just before the game ended, and as the new round loaded I got disconnected

"ERROR
Game disconnected: your connection to the server timed out."

those that have played commander, how 'playable' is it without communicating with VOIP to squads?

I will still be able to hear them asking for stuff, but not be able to give orders through mic.

@wez have you tried international 64 servers?

Should have been more specific... sorry. Local 64 player maps are a waste of time...

@Vero yeah I see that looks to be the new major problem

so, 1Gig patch just to cause an even more annoying problem... way to go DICE/EA

Game is completely unplayable for me after the patch. This **** is unbelievable....

The patch download is crawling for me... 70KBps

FFS - cant even play the SP while the patch is downloading.

The game crashes even more regularly after the patch for me.It was mainly the audio loop crash where the audio loops, and the game hangs, and I have to go into task manager and kill the task. Now it crashes quite regularly just before respawning, saying battlefield 4 process has terminated.

I had the same crashes on a different Windows 8 install with different graphics drivers and software, I reinstalled my whole computer with Windows 8.1 with updates drivers. I redownloaded the whole game, and have nothing installed except for the game, and what it requires (pb, directx, nvidia drivers). The crashes were exactly the same across both these installs.

Instead of being all that angry, I just wonder why it is that the EA Dice team does not properly test patches before sending it out. Why could they not run 20 computers with a variety of different hardware, and software setups (for instance different o/s's etc), and let 20 guys for a minimum wage play test the game, running crash analyzers to pinpoint errors.People would probably do this for free to sort out the game) They could then replicate the errors on certain computers, and work on the specific code required to fix the most common errors. They can also play test smaller patches that specifically target the code at fault, before releasing it.

This should not be all that difficult. They should also make feedback from the public in the beginning of the release much easier, and open. This is their first line of communication, and troubleshooting.

The game is worth R500.00 since it is much better the COD Ghosts, and will make for a great game once all the crap has been sorted. Most software has problems when it arrives on the shelves. They just need to work on it efficiently. I wonder if it is not a lack of proper leadership, since they do not seem to make it any easier for themselves.

Hope it gets fixed soon. The game is really amazing without the crashes.

Im sure EA/Dice does something like this... although they probably just use the most high end hardware...

It really does seem like they are guessing fixes, coding them and then releasing them once they think it works.. Its sad really.

I totally agree that the BF franchise > the COD franchise. It has extra elements to it. I just wish they would spend the bit of time on actually polishing it properly. that 1 gig update just seemed to be a whole gig of bugs... :(:(

The leadership is probably the problem... *cough* EA *cough*

Im pretty sure they have teams of people doing QA on all sorts of hardware. It might not seem like it but this is as big as it gets ITO game development.

Its sad though. if they really have a QA team how are we seeing the same issues, if not worse issues, than the Beta...

Like the sound bug... at least if they spent some time on that people would be able to listen carefully to their surrounds and maybe not get knifed... but since its so buggy and jittery... i don't even bother, half the time ive just got scilence
