The Official Biltong Enthusiasts Thread

Herewith I would like to celebrate one of our national heritage pastimes.

A thread for advice recipies and biltong drier schematics!

I Would like to ask a mod to please officiate us with a sticky!

Please follow us as I will soon post some pics of my personal biltong drier.

The word biltong is from the Dutch bil ("rump") and tong ("strip" or "tongue")

Recipies

Biltong & Beer Bread

NOTE I personally found the Thyme extremely overpowering and reduced it to 10ml. Awesome with a Saturday Braai & some Klippes

Geeez, after reading this thread guess I am out to makro to get some topside today!

Time to get the biltong box up and running again...

Got my biltong maker and have my first batch drying as of midnight.

I bought more meat than I should have (3.7kg), do you guys buy just enough to make or do you buy bulk and freeze?

Is there a taste difference in the frozen meat?

Thanks for all the tips so far! Can't wait to try.
