The Official CLASSIC Mini Thread

I can see I may need to get my licensing sorted through "less conventional means". Have had so many people tell me "they know somebody that knows somebody" that can help... Have chased down 4 of these people for assistance (and its not like Im asking for it for free) - and to date: v0k0l assistance...

Is this regarding your road worthy certificate?

Yep. Long sad story. My own fault for falling in love with a '67 that had SO MUCH potential without checking the paperwork. She hasn't been licensed since 1994. The previous owner used it from 1994 till 1996 without ever putting it into his name. Then her engine packed up and that's where she stood till I found her late last year. The guy he bought her from cant be found. Now all I have a few colorful papers and no "easy" way of getting her onto my name. Have had suggestions from people of how to "work around" the issue. But I don't want her to lose her providence. She is one of the first AUS spec cars to arrive in SA and to re-register her as a 1980 (or whatever) would be a crying shame to me.

If you re-register it'll be as a 2015. But even if you can find all the paperwork going back to 1994, I suspect that it's already off the system, and even if not, paying 21 years of licence and penalties will be tens of thousands.

Exactly what I hope to avoid. This is South Africa. Home of eTolls / Nkandla / Gupta Gate / Procurement Deals / Disappearing court dockets etc: There has to be a way. Just need to find it.

Still sorting out my mini's brakes! :p

Still struggling with my licencing issues. But I saw her yesterday (shes parked at a friends place in a secure garage - we only have an open parking for her at our complex).
Started her and imagined driving her around the streets of eJozi... One day!

Mini failed it's roadworthy ... but not on the brakes as suspected ...

a loose nut on the tie rod, and the rear lights does not work correctly when the brights are on ...

All in all not too bad. I'm quite happy.
Already took it for wheel alignment to fix the loose nut and aligment that was never adjusted after I replaced the front suspension.
Will fix the lights tonight and take it back tomorrow
:D

Fingers crossed she passes with flying colors.
