I'm on a G1 package and with the 1GB bandwidth that's rolled over (I downgraded from 3GB to 1GB) + the 500MB, my package is now basically 2.5GB - schweeeeet.

So for R398p/m you get 2.5GB? According to Hellkom, the cheapest 2GB package is R436/pm on the lowest ADSL offer. Expensive indeed.

Wow. That's a bit harsh. Luckily, it's for add-on bundles and not the in-bundle cost. And, most probably, someone just made a huge screw up with that e-mail they sent. Where's the link to this info?

This hasn't been confirmed yet. We'll have to wait and see what happens on 1 April. Personally, I don't think it will be a 600% increase.

People keep saying thier prices have gone up 7X, which is not even quite true if you use top ups, but if you do then you would just have to leave, far too expensive.
For many of us though the extra mb is all that matters, so why didn't they just leave it at that. They are going to get people who aren't even affected by the change leaving them because of this...

Ja, well that for a start. But I meant that some people make it sound like these are there actual prices, many people don't even use the top up.
But if you are on the hardcapped packages its not worth it at all, you can still hope that these figures are wrong. It doesn't nearly start to make sense when you compare it to their bundle prices...

Re the top up, I can think of only 2 scenarios:
1. A number of people use it and they hope to make more revenue out increasing prices.
2. Few use it and they want to maximise what they get out of those people.
Now for me 2 seems the less likely of the two. One can only assume that iBurst are aware of the basic laws of supply and demand and that a higher price generally leads to lower demand. So if few people use the service as is, it would only make sense to cut prices there to encourage revenue growth. But then that requires sense.
So one becomes the most likely. Again they'll lose numbers but the numbers lost will be made up by the increase in prices.
Anyway trying to make senseof the business decisions of this company is beyond me. I am now left only to serve my final month with them.

I know I might get shot for this statement, but...
It's a good thing to discourage the purchase of extra bandwidth - it should contribute to a more stable and less congested network, which would be in all “ordinary” users favour and the corporates who can afford the higher rates will think twice…

who.is.michael - it can only solve congestion by forcing users to look elsewhere. iBurst numbers dwindle. They still need to pay for towers being erected. So it's either price increases for the few users left or iBurst goes iBust. Good luck.

I don't mind Michael, that sounds fine because I never top up in any case. But just the principle of such a huge increase is giving them very bad publicity, well on MyADSL anyway.

hehe, having been with iBurst for a year and a half now, the only "top-up" bandwidth that I have ever used has been free "Cap-Of-Death" top up's. And the only reason I am still with iBurst is because of the 64k after cap... Managed around 11GB so far on a 3GB account

Well my cap is working very well this month... not sure what happened to the 64kb part though

I'm quite happy with getting 2.5gb for R 389 a month... although I rarely top up, and will never top up now.
This month the cap didn't kick in until I had downloaded around 3GB, on a 1.5GB account. So lekker

The article quotes that MyADSL received correspondence that the prices will increase by 700%. Where is the confirmation? Where is the facts? I will believe this nonsense when I hear it from iBurst at a press conference, or on their website.
It's 614%, and from this statement below they are waiting for ICASA to approve it:
