The Official Nintendo DS Thread

A slot 1 device can definitely not play GBA roms, because then it has to emulate the GBA for which the NDS is not powerfull enough. When it is loaded on a slot 2 device, the NDS just uses its inbuilt capabilities to play GBA cartridges, and no emulation is necessary. Please correct me if I am wrong, but this is how I understand it in layman's terms,
 
Thanks! I already have a Playstation 2 and an Xbox 360, but I use my PC much more as I love MMOs lol. Looking for something to play on-the-move. I've tried a few MMOs for my cellphone (Tibia ME, Hinterwars etc), but those were basically big grinds.

It would be really awesome if Maple Story comes to the DS! I think I'm going to go for the DS! Any recommendations on must-have games?

if you really wanna invest in something for your ds, get a slot one flash cart; trust me, best thing you can buy. theres downloads aplenty for the ds and the file sizes arent too big (in comparison to psp iso downloads!!) and the other bonus is that you get to play game before the hit our shores....now dont get me wrong, im not exactly pro piracy (i did say not exactly :D ) but as the ds goes, theres some real stinkers out there in terms of games so its good that you get to try b4 u buy. For example, i've got all the copies of FF for the ds all neatly wrapped up and put away and i play the roms instead (hopefully that isnt considered piracy!! lol) in that way, i can spend on games that deserve the cash and get my collection goin at the same time. apart from that theres some cool homebrew that can turn your ds into an organiser or even a media player!!

right on the money laydon...i dont know if the ds isnt powerful enuf...it just seems pointless to make a gba emu when the ds has built in gba funtionality (thats my guess)

thanks for the info.... though i believe i'll be happy with my m3 ds real...
just this post office working on my B-Hind....the thing arrived on monday already(i know this because i was tracking it) and i still havent received the collection thingy...
if i dont get it by tomorrow then im going directly to the post office on saterday and tell them hey i know my thing is here why am i waiting so long to come and collect it... or is there somebody that might know wtf is up....

can't wait to try out all the roms i downloaded so far...
New SMB, The world ends with you, ultimate mortal kombat, contra 4, naruto rise of the ninja, naruto ninja destiny(looks great), nfs pro street, sim city ds, animal crossing, bleach: blade of fate, pokemon pearl, and other good stuff i cant think of now...
 
oh oh oh..... guess who finally got his M3 DS Real!!!
and after sitting up till like 1 o'clock in the morning, since i had a couple of problems i am in business!!!
Damn i can't wait to get back home so i can try out the game...played a bit of geometry wars galaxies, the retro evolved part, lol AWESOME, just like on pc, if not better coz of the stylus control.... just don't have the cool effects...
gonna try out the rest as soon as i get home.... OMG im so excited to get home LOL

lol. happy for you bro...dont blow your mind all at once now!!!! BTW, if you getting stuff from SAPO in future, you dont have to wait for the collection slip thing. I buy from bid or buy.co.za a lot and i just go in to the post office with the tracking number and get my stuff as soon as it arrives....sorry i didnt let you know sooner but I've been away and just checked the forum now.

anyways, enjoy you addon, and post reviews of any cool roms you played!! pm me is you want/need any rom sites

yeah T2H told me that already thanks... so i gave the tracking number to my friend and he went and got it for me...
yeah will do....lol but just as i thought, this is gonna cause some problems, coz now i don't know what to play... its just like when you have too many games on your pc...

BTW anybody played The World Ends With You on a M3 DS REAL?
coz i have some problems... i works fine...but after the "battle" with those frogs another intro video plays... and somewhere in that video it stalls and you have to turn the DS off...

oh and for some reason... its next to impossible to finish the fourth guy on Ultimate Mortal Kombat, doesn't matter who it is... most times its Jade. anybody know if its maybe a bad rom or something?

hey dragonic, glad to hear ur enjoying ur cart. I no the feeling with havin too many games, lol...when i got my cart, i felt like a kid in a candy store!! so I'm also havin that dillema with not knowin wat to play and when. If anythings really good, i'll let you know.

I did hear about that stall issue in TWEWY with the M3 but, seein as i wasnt havin any probs with my edge, i didnt read further...i'll what i can dig up for you. About UMK3, lol ppl were complainin about the insane difficulty (read it in a gamefaq.com review somewhere) so the real joy is in the multiplayer i suppose...

lol UMK3? no im sorry thats not just difficult, its inhuman...thats b!tch Jade just comes runnig at you like crazy and no matter what you do she guards or counters, and thats on novice level... WTF? contra is difficult but its "possible" difficult...but im checking out gamefaqs now

i'm assuming you have an american SD card.
the japanese ones have been known to work without a problem.
my cousin has the same one.

all i did was made sure cheats and soft reset are OFF,
update his firmware (link provided below.),
deleted his old save file..
and whenever it got to one of the animations,
we closed and opened it every second until it was over.

try just turning off soft reset and cheats + opening and closing first.
if not, do it all.

i was about to suggest that coz i found a site with about the same solutions last night...
i tried the opening and closing thing and amazingly it worked...WEIRD!
but ya it works so i'm not gonna complain. So... To other M3 DS REAL users out there who wants to play The World Ends With You (TWEWY) but the game freezes on you in the intro vid just as the main character runs past the other guy....do the open and closing thing till its past that part and you'll be fine....
loving this game sofar BTW...(just hope that freeze don't happen if there's a vid somewhere again)

Did you have to give your ID document to your friend to pick up that parcel? I phoned my PO branch this morning, and they told me that it is necessary. If not, I can get my stuff today, instead of giving my ID to my sister so that she can get it tomorrow.
 
he showed his student card and they said its fine...
so i think its ok... tell her to just take her id book and the tracking number...and see if it works.

LOL last night my friend was playing COD4 on my pc, and i was playing it on my DS.
Then the Eskom came to say hi....LOL i continued playing and he screamed "why don't you connect your UPS!!!"...HAHAHA. i said that God for my DS(which was the only light in my room lol....oh and my other friends phone who was on MXit)

ps sorry i wasn't playing COD4 when that happened... i changed to TWEWY....lol ah choices...awesomeness!
 
lol, yeah, ds sure is bright!!

I've started playing ffiii. i've had it for a while, but you know how it goes with "too-many-games" syndrome...lol, i've decided to play this till completion.

did i choose the right rpg to commit to or is there a better one for the ds?? anyone??
