Same for me, even when casting from my PC (WiFi is definitely not a good option here).
Is there an Aptoide application on your Shield as well? I am trying to avoid unnecessary bloat like that.

I will go the emu route as soon as I buy a big enough flash drive, probably a 128GB.

I was actually going to install a custom rom on my Amazon Fire HD7 but I see that the new update includes Alexa :D.
 
Alexa can't open any apps. You can only switch the Shield on and off and change the volume.
 
Received my shield today. Very impressed with Amazon. Being my first purchase they gave me exceptional customer support as well as giving me discounts after purchase. All in all, i paid R 2500. Box is far supreme than mibox. Tried a few games to stream and worked decently. Still early days. Looking great so far

Looking for the model with gaming remote myself
 
Box setup.CEC works like a charm. The only niggles I'm having is Kodi adjust refresh rate doesn't work. Not sure of its CEC that's causing it. Also, Ok Google doesn't work. There is no option to enable it. Any ideas?

For the hot word activation I think you need to use the gamepad, with the regular remote you have to use the button first to activate the assistant. This looks like the page with the right info: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/ans...hield-tv---how-to-set-up-hands-free-ok-google
 
Hmmm... didn't realize I would lose out on this function by not getting the remote. Im sure there is a way to use my phone with google to switch on it hands free. Thanks

I just switched mine on with the phone while getting done for work in the bathroom.

"Turn on Shield".
"Play Tupac on Shield".
 
Yiso Google Assistant is powerful.

I just set up a routine that when I say "Ok Google, I'm awake."
It triggers the Shield to be switched on, the phone tells me the weather for today, then it proceeds to play my playlist on the Shield.

Can't I change the trigger from "Ok Google" to "Kyk hier"?

How did you get your phone to control the shield with google. I don't see it with the native app?
