The official off side rule thread

It made sense from the beginning. Really.

Cant understand all the confusion. It is really simple.

Well if they needed an official UEFA guy to come on TV and explain it to everyone, it seems we were not the only people who thought it was a bit confusing or merited clarification.

Probably explained it to all the people who dont know anything about football.

If it was that simple i don't think a UEFA official would have bothered explaining it.
Most people(including myself) thought the goal was offside...but that was because most people did not see pannuci laying on the side of the pitch:)

the last goal in the Spain game should have been offside:

The Rule states:
Gaining an advantage by being in an offside position includes playing a ball that rebounds to the player off a post or crossbar or playing a ball that rebounds to the player off an opponent having been in an offside position.

The 1st shot came through and at this stage Fabregas was offside. The ball rebounds (saved by the keeper), and Fabregas heads the rebound into the net. If he was behind or inline with the last opponent as the ball rebounds from the keeper, it would have been justified.
----------------

So considering, the refs have only got 1 wrong so far. :)

Nobody is claiming it wasnt offside but they can have that one, would have still been beaten 3-1.
