The Official RaspberryPi Thread

For their raspberry Pi. I'm guessing most of you bought a supply with it but in case anyone needs one...

I just use my old cell chargers. But I've got 16 of the little Pi's (bought without power supplies) and if you are giving power supplies away .... PLEASE! :)

BTW. I actually BURNT out a powersupply yesterday. Dunno how my son managed it, but I suspect he pulled to hard on the cord. Those cheap white cellphone USB charger thingies.

Eish didn't want to GIVE it away. :erm: I have the 1200mA supply.

Welll, could have been my fault. That pie is literally modded with foil and cellotape to bypass the main fuse, and FAT caps accross the USB powerrails. :) Mwuahaha!

Was thinking of doing that to run my HDD but just going to get a powered hub instead.

My raspberries are still working great.

But have u seen that the rewind and foward and volume is useless.

I have tried raspbmc and openelec

well with overclocking and such then raspbmc is easier. but openelec is faster overall.

but they are quite the same.

openelec installs faster.

now on the one i still have raspbmc and the other one is now running openelec.

so get 2 sd cards and try them out and see which one works better for you.

For me Openelec is the clear winner, seldom crashes where rasbmc often dies.
ymmv

So, with my Pi having arrived this AM I'd like to fire it up with Openelec this evening. I don't have a Linux machine so I'll need to set up the SD card from my Mac or a PC. Everything seems to work except that I have a 512MB SD card but can only find pre-compiled Openelec images for 1GB (or larger) cards. Anybody know where I can get a 512MB image?

Hi bro, just wondering were did u order or pi from ? and how long did it take?
Regards

Which one would you recommend?

Definitely OpenElec. Could not get RaspBMC stable. For me, I also found that the stablest OpenELEC is
OpenELEC-RPi.arm-devel-20120921180905-r11974, overclocked. The newer versions mess up my SD cards (and then I have to reinstall), and the video quality is not as good - looks fuzzy on some.
