The Official RaspberryPi Thread

Incredible Corruption? No man. I would rather shop around first and try to support someone else that might give me a better price... Loot eg. got a few supported cards in stock - currently eying the 32GB SDHC Class 10 for ~R279.

I was impatient and I get eBucks... At least that's how I justified it :D

Any idea if it will be possible to fit one of these boards into the underside of a monitor base? I guess it depends on the height, but basically something this size:

How much space do you have beneath your monitor?

From the Raspberry Pi site:
The Raspberry Pi measures 85.60mm x 53.98mm x 17mm, with a little overlap for the SD card and connectors which project over the edges.

I want to plug in my iBurst USB to my Pi, link it to my wireless basestation and create a permanent internet connection. Anyone know how to install Iburst drivers on Debian Pi OS and creating a startup script to log onto the iburst if it is accidentally switched off?

Just got mine this morning. Starting to source the peripherals. SD card and power sorted. Now looking for the rest.

I just got mine today. I'm busy installing raspbmc at the moment. Will report on my findings about how it handles full HD once I tested it a bit!

I am developing a Pi enclosure that fastens to the VESA mount FDMI positions on the rear of most LCD screens, how many would be interested ?

Total rough size is 95mm x 66mm x 18mm. That is with the overhanging bits but without anything stuck into it yet.

If you want to place it underneath the monitor base, you could always make a round perspex base to raise the monitor slightly, and position the card inside a cutout in the middle of the circle. Grooved channels for the cables and bob could be your uncle.

Any body had any success installing Transmission on raspBMC or openELEC?

I'm on openELEC but the download just won't start from the add-ons menu

EDIT: Seems like non of the add-ons for openELEC installs..

How smooth are the menus etc?

One thing I've found with both the Fedora and Debian images is the processor takes a huge knock when it's running lxde and it's meant to be lightweight!

Still waiting on mine, taking too long :( By the way, have any of you guys tried any of those reverse car camera lcd screens? I think I might just pick one up and convert the 12v power cable somehow :O I don't own an HD TV or anything and I mostly want this for portability.

Here is a class 10 16Gb card for R145 it seems: http://www.pricecheck.co.za/offers/21856780/Patriot+LX+PRO+16GB+SDHC+Class+10+Memory+Card/

BTW, what are the chances this would work for a monitor? :P http://www.comx-computers.co.za/E16...nitor-Information-Price-Buy-Cheap-p-52305.php

After over clocking mine a wee bit I finally managed to play all my movies through openELEC. Even the big ones!

Menus are okay, I found it to be much snappier when changing the theme of openELEC to Quartz.

Now I'm hoping someone implements an easy to use torrent system that can run with openELEC and I will be very happy.

I can really see us using the Pi as our home theater device. It certainly works better than our current setup that uses the xbox for streaming.

That screen will have to be powered by a USB source other than your Pi.
The memory card you have there is a decent one.
