Must be hell to code on a TV over composite. Playing games or watching movies should be ok though.

got mine on thursday. had some trouble getting the image on the SD card. but got that sorted.
loaded openelec. and streaming all files over the eth port.
i am controlling it with a compro remote control.

and its awesome. works like a charm.

built a case from perspex (will post a pic later)

now i want to overclock it a bit.

HD content - the sound stutters a bit but all other video files i played worked perfectly
so hoppefully when i overclock it will be all sorted out.

so far i am very very happy.

Can I get some help with this please: I have wireless finally working after messing about with drivers, firmware and /etc/network/interfaces, but then when I start X11 I lose the connection completely and I can't start it again. Any help with this?

Edit: Even tried WICD and nm-gnome.

Android 4.0 is coming!

Yippee ki-yay m..... :D

Naren has been working on a port of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) to Raspberry Pi, and as you can see from the screenshots and video below, he’s been making great progress. Hardware-accelerated graphics and video have been up and running smoothly for some time; AudioFlinger support is the only major missing piece at the moment.

This implementation uses a different kernel and VideoCore binary image from the one available on GitHub, which is why we’ve been keeping quiet about it so far. We’re investigating the feasibility of converging the two code lines to produce a single common platform as soon as we can, at which point we hope to release the sources for you to play with.

What wireless device have you tried? I cant really help however im sure someone here would need to know what device you are having issues with before they can help you out

Sorry forgot to update. Got sorted
I'm using the this dongle and it works.

My problem was dropped connections. With the help of this thread on the Raspberry Pi forum I got sorted.

It seems the USB devices either fail or reset in X when connected to the hub. So I eliminated the hub and connected the dongle and the wireless keyboard receiver straight to the Pi and everything works.

Get the dongle now. I know I was guilty (and I know a few others too) of only getting the other stuff AFTER the Pi arrived. Got Pi. Then got SDHC. Then got box thing. Then got new charger for phone. etc...

I`l be ordering my Pi soon :D
any heads up? not sure about the case but I`l probably get one or make my own
anybody managed vga output? like via a hdmi > dvi > vga converter or something :p

  • Buy 2 or more SD Cards, 4gig and up.
  • Buy a case well in advance
  • Buy an HDMI to DVI cable (Not needed but always good to have if your monitor does have HDMI or if you don't want to use your TV)

I know you get DVI to VGA converters.

I'm loving what my Raspberry Pi is doing, but in every interaction I've had with it that requires the slightest bit of graphical power makes it slug. Is it going to get any better without having to replace the board?
