The official running thread™

Absolutely, I usually only buy once on a 20k run, so it's a small trade-off from having to run with a pack.

On the Trail then yes, 100% mandatory
Last week went out for 24km. All 2L was finished by 18km. Refilled about half and finished it over the rest. I even had 1L before the run. No toilet stops.

I'm heavier than average (97kg) so my engine runs hotter at pace and I need more coolant.

Maybe I need to see a mech - could be a blown gasket.

I think I am starting to feel the effects of the A.G.E syndrome. I just can't get fit without injury since my hamstring. One injury after another on repeat..

I have had to start going to gym just so I don't become fat and I'm trying to fit in some strength training to help the running.

Any tips for a guy approaching 40?

1. Strength training
2. Stretching
3. Taping/physio
4. Low-heart rate training

Forget how fit you were and start training like you are literally starting from scratch. Otherwise you go to hard for your current fitness and body adaptation and keep getting injuries. It's frustrating as hell but it's the only way.

Hello.
I've been looking to get a pair of ON shoes in South Africa. Of course, I googled this and I came across a couple of very similar looking sites selling ON but these don't all look exactly legit...

The prices are cheap as well. Too cheap...
Has anyone bought from an of these sites? It might be that one of you actually has bought from here and got some cheap ON shoes! But I'm not exactly hopeful...

Im in a similar situation. I found that spending some time in the gym pool with a kickboard instead of a run did wonders for me.

Also, listen to your body even though it seems like it complains more than your ex.

Scam - stay away.
A friend of mine got Clouds from a legit dealer in Jhb. DM me if interested.

Ive already hit 50 and having the best running streak since starting in 2019.
Did 6 half marathon distances in the last 8 weeks alone, and I'm getting faster.

Also, got lots of good info from this guy's book.

How many kilometers do you run before discarding your shoes? I normally start giving them away after they've reached 1000 km's. For marathons, I like to use a shoe that is around the 300KM mark.

I have a pair as my clean "road shoes"; they're just under 500km. Typically around 800-1000km they'll become my Parkrun shoes (those are at 1200km), and then they'll become my muddy run shoes (which are at 1500km).

I'm back in my NB 1080v10's. Think they've got over 2000k's on them now

The new v12 pair are sitting in my boot

I find I start getting a lot more niggles/injuries after around 600-700km so I've started changing them out at 600km.

What @Claymore said. You can never discard a pair if it's still in good nick without noticable tears. As they lose their cushioning they get relegated to short runs and then park runs.
New pairs only for long (15km+) runs and you can get more mileage out of them.

Got a Kayano that has over 2000 km on the. and it's still in daily use. Good for ankle strength too.
