The official running thread™

For those with COROS devices there is apparently a severe security vulnerability you should be aware of.

A German IT security firm has published a list of 8 different security bugs found in all COROS watches that give essentially full access to not only the user’s watch, but also their COROS account. This includes everything from interrupting a workout (during the workout), to resetting the device remotely, as well as accessing/downloading all your COROS.com data.

The list of security issues was originally listed to be for just the COROS Pace 3 watch; however, I have confirmed with COROS that it actually impacts all COROS devices, as all COROS watches (+ bike computer) utilize the same Bluetooth connectivity code between the watch and phone, where the issue lies.

I should be hitting the Parkrun on Saturday, the couch 2 5k program has me scheduled for a 20 minute continuous run (gulp) so I figure that's a good place for it...

I did a 10k yesterday and now it hurts around this area. More so when going down stairs. I hope it's nothing too bad 20250703_190421.jpg

I dont want to prestige doing 8k a day is fine for me in 2 runs

10k would kill me

You will probably do faster time in a 'race' setting. You have done the distance in training and i can promise in the race atmosphere, you will do a lot better than you think. Go for it.
Depends on various factors, proper hydration the day before, nutrition, weather conditions. I ended up running 11 minutes slower in London than predicted

You Need to restrict the movement of the Iliotibial (IT) band for the next few weeks. Buy one of these straps and strap it above (not below) the knee cap.

Recovery take 2 - 3 weeks.

You need to take a break from running for at least a week. when you return to running run with the strap on. tighten it properly even if it feels like it's blocking blood circulation.

Don't perform any squats or lunges it will irritate the it band further:

Do these to strengthen your glutes to prevent this from happening and run on roads with minimum elevation profiles.

3 x 10 side leg raises
Quad foam rolling
standing quad stretch.

ITB syndrome is the worst pain you can experience if it gets serious. It's worse than jumpers / runners knee.

A dose of dicoflam will help clear up inflammation around the knee cap.

It depends on the severity and how quickly you recover. If you plan on running and you feel even the slightest of pain stop immediately.
I felt a slight like muscle pain from the previous run in that area and thought nothing of it. Then yesterday around the 2/3km I did like a mini sprint because of a car and then my right foot slightly hurt a lil but was fine after a while during the run. Man I should have stopped.

I miss running.

Foot seems to be fine while walking with only a slight tightness at the ankle. Only real twinge of slight pain is when I rotate my foot counterclockwise.

Ordered an ankle guard. Not sure if I should chance a short run on Sunday.

See a specialist if you want to be thorough and safe.
