The official running thread™

This was the very definition of to much too soon. I never ever ran until I started in Jan 2015 like you. DONT DO THIS LIKE ME. I was destroyed!

Would be interesting to see how many km's you guys have run so far this year

2019:
Distance 216.0 km
Time 25h 56m
Elev Gain 3,606 m
Runs 36

All-Time (since 2014)
Distance 3,497.4 km
Runs 607

Last year I did 1362km, and that's about as far as I'll go; I'm comfortable with about 100km per month.

Here's mine for the year to date:

Distance 505.4 km
Time 52h 41m
Elev Gain 7,747 m
Runs 47

Last year I did 1,050km so this year has been quite a step up in mileage.

Nice! I'm on about 300km for the year so far but coming off a busy 2018 (more than 1,600km). Ramping it up towards Two Oceans Ultra and my first Comrades in June.

I did my only two oceans in 1992 and my last comrades in 1995

Running:
Distance: 116.5 km
Time: 12h 47m
Elev Gain: 1,309 m
Runs: 21

Need to start ramping this up a lot before IM 70.3 Durban but my ITB started giving trouble during my run this morning :crying: Really hoping I can stretch and foam roll it out

ITB sucks ass. I had it a few years ago. It hit me at the start of a half marathon once. Took me 2:55 to do that race. I was in agony at the end. Took two months off to recover. During that time, it was a physio session or two as well as core strengthening (which is one of the major causes of ITB). So lots of squats, planks etc. Haven't had any trouble since. Hope you get over it soon.

I've got a few long runs coming up before Two Oceans Ultra in a month (starting with Weskus Marathon next weekend). Going to try do a Constantia Nek - Chappies - Constantia Nek run before the Ultra as well.

I did too much too soon my first 3 months of running and this was sheer hell. Foam roller and RICE helped a lot.

First official 10km race tomorrow!

so i registered anyway, but it appears you need to print out the barcode in order to participate?

Yes. You must always have it with you on a park run. Keep it in your cell cover. Then you can follow results on net

Bleh. Only carry it if you want results on the web. Otherwise, pitch up without it and run the thing anyway. They give you your position thingy anyway, which you hand back and off you go.
