The official running thread™

Do you guys do recovery runs or just rest?
I have set running days sat, sun, tues, Thurs. Tuesday runs are very slow like 6.30-7mins a km closer to 7 if I am doing track the next day.

Monday I do spinning to release the legs.

Wednesday I rest, do track, hiit or spinning depending on energy levels.

Friday I generally do something at the gym, power pump, swimming, rowing, weights etc or I take a rest day depending on Wednesday.

For me if I only run I get injured, so use the rest days to strengthen everything else to try not get injured.

Felt good this morning so decided to do a tempo run to see how it goes and it felt good, slowly but surely building up my running base again. Hills still destroy me though.

I am aiming for 5:30 pace at 150bpm at the moment

Give some feedback after using it, always wonder if these smaller treadmills don't slip every now and then..
Got it today. It's heavy!
Did a quick 500m just to try it out.
Runna connects to it fine and is able to control speed and gradient for its planned workouts. My garmin watch doesn't connect to it sadly, so it has to estimate the distance if I record a treadmill workout with it. It overestimated by about 10% but I haven't run enough for it to do a calibration yet (needs a 2.5km run)

Feels solid enough, and the running deck doesn't feel cramped at all.

4.5km easy run (8:37 pace) to ease back into things after three weeks with the flu. HRV still crap but really, enough now.
Managed fine - but I need to set up a fan! I still have my vacmaster air mover, just need to bring it down to the treadmill.

1st entry on the new Runna plan for the Southampton 10k in May.
Next run Sunday, 8km, "rolling", so it should put some hills in as well.

Watch recorded this as 5.5km - but it's now recalibrated so we'll see how it goes on Sunday

Need to "officially" join this thread now :)

Smashing these baby runs!

Also first 30min 5km with the baby! :)

This morning was awesome as it was quite cool but my word the wind blowing against the pram was rough

Really enjoying adding the weekend runs into the fitness mix for the year will aim to up this to 10km over the next 2 months.

My running background:

I used to be an avid runner about 8 or so years back used to do 50 min 10k and fastest 5km was 24min. Also did 10-15km almost daily or 60km a week.

I had a very bad lung infection and that reversed all my hard work and I fully gave into sedentary lifestyle. 3 years ago I decided to take my health back at 34, and it's been a long journey to get from I think 112kg down to the 89-90 I am now.

Big difference from when I used to run back in the day was that I now cross train. Or focus loads on functional fitness. I only did strength training the last 3 years never before that.

I do 4km daily walk with my wife, pushing the pram gym 4/5 times a week and have now decided to add running back.

Running is now supplementary not primary. I think the talks I have heard about muscle memory etc are definitely true I can find myself finding my running and breathing rythem that took me months to initially find took less than 5 runs now.

I'm quite excited for the year ahead as it's loads of fun taking the little guy out on the road and also giving my wife a bit of a breather on the weekend mornings. I run with a noola elite with wheels fixed this is by no means a running pram the sprint is but I'll maybe pick up a nice secondhand one when I see how this pans out.
Was pondering how far I was going to go this weekend, 5km, 7.5km? Mmm why not 10km plotted the route yesterday and smashed it out this morning with my little man in the pram. Man with the winds pushing the pram up those uphills its like "crossfit-running". Just just just just shy of a 1h 10km but I know I can def do that on an easy route and without a pram so enjoying the journey of getting back into running!

Have a great weekend all!

Garmin can tsek with its overreaching :P

All the hard work in the gym full body/functional fitness/plyometrics have transferred really great to the running all the issues like muscle burn from lactic build up is non-existent. Also pushing my self at this pace didnt feel too bad either almost a solid zone 4 run

Also smashed out 5 new PB's!

That baby be cruising like a champ....just don't bail 🫣

Maybe its right. How you feeling?
Actually not bad at all. I mean I managed the treadmill run fine, didn't feel like I was over extending like I did when I tried to run last weekend. HRV and RHR are still not right which is part of the watch's problem, and because I've been out for 3+ weeks my recommended load is really low, but compared to where I was a month ago it's fine. I don't think I've deconditioned as fast as garmin thinks.
