The Official Stargate Thread

Started SG1 again the other say. Gave it up a few epis in

Hasn't aged well tbh. All I could see was the gaping plotholes :(
I haven't done a re-watch in a while so maybe I will feel the same as you when I do but TBH I quite enjoy the fact that it is less sophisticated than TV today. It does after all come from an era before there were hordes of people online waiting to tear everything apart and we didn't spend so much time analyzing everything. I like that it feels a little old and nostalgic.

I think maybe in this golden age of modern TV we're living in we have forgotten a little how to suspend our belief.

So whos version of sgx are we getting this time? The 'two founders' properly ****ed it up the previous few attempts with sg, atlantis and universe.
TBH I had no real issues with Atlantis - yes it did get somewhat disjointed once they started making cast changes but I think that had more to do with studio objectives than creative issues. I still enjoy it very much as it has the core optimism and heart that SG-1 had. Universe was certainly a shock to the system but I feel like given more time it would have come into it's own - I was very confused by it until about halfway through the second season when it started to grow on me. So we disagree slightly on "properly ****ed" :)

To answer your question though would seem that the fandom and certainly Brad Wright are keen on a canon continuation of the series rather than a reboot.#StargateNow #WeWantStargate #TimeForStargate as a movement certainly seems to be based upon the idea that the original creators would head a new show and that it would be a continuation.
In the discussion Brad makes the point plainly that writing for Daniel is easy because he has written so much for him before, and that he hears Michael's voice while writing. That is a pretty big hint on the direction he seems to be pursuing. I am not sure what the process of pitching a show such as this might be but to me it is interesting that he is taking the time to write new dialogue- what that means exactly I am not sure. Perhaps a studio has expressed interested and has requested a new pilot to be drafted? Hard to say. We live in hope.

This looks fun.

At the very end of this episode:

is this little nugget:

I miss this kind of scifi so much.

Personally I would prefer a reboot. Maybe just because I want to see Jensen Ackles play O'Neill
