The Official Summer Transfer 2009/2010 Thread

Now that the Champions in all three top leagues are all but confirmed (except United who officially won today) lets start with the rubbish on who is going where and for how much...

So to start it off with a little laugh...

Chrisitan Vieri is linked with Moroka Swallows... :D

We have a summer transfers thread dude. Why make another one?

Thatone is coming along so long already.

Wasn't that one for last year? I just thought it would be better to have one thread for each year. So unless it's stickyed and renamed - I don't see the problem with opening another one for this year/season.

well put Summer transfer 2009/10 then :P

LMAO at Vieri! he should retire already!

You are correct. That was for last summer. Seemed pretty simple to me.

Looks like Newcastle will have to start selling mega players...

HOW IN THE WORLD does a team with Experience of Edgar Davids, Nicky Butt, Martins, Owen, Viduka etc end up in relagation zone? bad coach?

"It's very difficult to leave Manchester for me," he stated, before adding, "It will be very difficult to stay."

So he won't make the choice ;)

"should i stay or should I go? if I stay there will be trrrrrrrraaaaaaabbbbbbou" :P

hmmm lets put the whole Tevez thing on the cards...

Tevez belongs to MSI. If United were to sign Tevez on a permanant basis does that mean Tevez loses MSI's services as a whole or does it mean Tevez will be "rented" out to United? Hence his statement of it will be hard to stay, and it would be hard to go...

Now should Tevez play for United in the next 3 years and achieve great things - interests comes in for his signature. He decides to leave, who gets that transfer money? does united get paid for training/coaching his talents? Or does the money go to MSI?

Attempting To Explain The Tevez Affair

Who actually owns Carlos Tevez?
Well, not Kia Joorabchian as some reports erroneously suggest, or even MSI - who are thought to have all-but ceased trading - but an unnamed collection of investors who are represented publicly by Joorabchian, who also happens to be Tevez' agent and mentor.

But isn't third-party ownership banned in the Premier League?
It is now, but this third-party agreement was in operation before the rule change so the Premier League has made an exception. West Ham's problem was that a) they did not disclose the details and b) their Tevez and Mascherano contracts stipulated that the players' owners had ultimate rights over the footballers. Manchester United's contract says otherwise - that Tevez' owners retain economic rights but must have no sway over the player for as long as he is leased to United. That breaches no Premier League rules.

So what agreement did United have with these investors?BR>That they would lease Tevez at a cost of around £4-5m a year plus wages. Part of the agreement stipulated that a final payment of anything between £22m and £25m (depending on the report) would secure the permanent transfer of Tevez. That money would be divided between the investors and United would have complete ownership of the Argentine.

So what's the problem?
Well, they don't want to pay. Like someone who has been, ahem, making love with someone for two years with no commitment, they're now rather unwilling to pay for the big wedding. Tevez has become in essence a back-up striker and they are unwilling to pay £20m-plus for a back-up striker and so are trying to get him on the cheap. But the contract is watertight and the only chance of getting Tevez on a permanent deal is to honour the contract.

Will any other clubs pay that asking price?Well, the asking price becomes null and void as soon as the leasing agreement is up. Tevez can be sold for whatever price a club is willing to pay - that could be £25m or it could be £40m. Chelsea or Manchester City could end up signing Tevez for a lot less than United agreed to pay in total.

What does Tevez want to do?
Ideally, he wants United to honour the agreement so he can stay at a club he clearly loves, saying recently: "I want to stay in Manchester for all of my career." He clearly feels betrayed that - having given United unparalleled effort over the last two years - the club are unwilling to pay a price they agreed two years ago. If staying at United proves impossible, he has indicated that he wants to stay in England, with Manchester City and Liverpool coming into the equation.

Why doesn't Tevez just break off with Joorabchian?
They have a very close relationship going back several years, with Tevez saying: "He is my friend and my mentor. He is the godfather to my daughter and he is someone I trust and respect." As much as the British media wants to paint Joorabchian as a villain, the truth is that Tevez obviously feels indebted to him for giving him his lifestyle at one of the world's biggest clubs. It's all very well The Sun rolling out an MEP to say that Tevez could break his contract, but we're not talking about an employer/employee relationship here, we're talking about friends.

:o so United is most likely trying to come to a agreement for him to stay without having to fork over an arm and leg?

I dunno really... This will be one to watch and thankfully... not because of player hysterics, but a great many other things. Point is... with Macheda, Wellbeck and that other guy (who is on load at Tottenham) coming up and Berba all paid for, is it really necessary to have Tevez? I mean it's all well and good that he has performed when called upon, but he is not a bit part player, so he won't accept it (at least at his age...)...

Hey guys, what are the odds on Rafa buying another hard-worker and a winger that will dazzle only when he doesn't need to. I'm also sure that you will make money betting on Chelsea to hire another guy who won't last more than a season and add in some "young" (28-29 y/o) midfielders that are world-renowned and will further disrupt the harmony at Stamford Bridge. Good odds will surely be given to Fergie buying at least two duds to make up for the good transfers he has made in the last 3-4 years (come on folks... he has an average to keep up...).

EDIT: I forgot to add in Wenger here, but then again, he never spends anyway.

PS: Watch me eat all of my words next season.

PPS: Then it will be a brilliant season

PPPS: I'm rambling now...

Mou has said he wants a striker, two midfielders and a defender for next season.

I reckon milito is nearly done for the striker and hernanes(sao paolo player) will be one of the midfielders. For the other midfield spot who are rumored to too many too know at this stage and no idea bout the defender.

Wenger doesn't have the money to spend... after that stadium costed his arm and nipple... :D

difference between Alex and Rafa is Alex will actually spent time and effort to make the play feel welcome... Rafa is keen to bench people he doesn't like and NEVEr play them... where do you get cohesion by alienating players from the team? oh and can I say this? Rafa may have any talent scouting BUT he doesn't know what to do after he gets the play he wants - except to bench them :P

Just in your opinion... Milito or Zarate?
