The Official Xiaomi Thread

Anyone here have the vacuum? Wondering if it can go over room dividers, and small inclines between rooms.

I see Xiaomi SA on FB advertising that some of the phones including Mi 10 are available on contract through Vodacom. Anyone have a link to that?

Not a contract as such.

Yeah I think the 250 square meter will be more of a challenge. I split I think 200 between 2 robots. Still so so worth it.

Will see how it goes... Obviously furniture will reduce that quite a bit. It'll also be placed in the middle of the house.

(And bedrooms only need to be done once a week)

So you buy it cash and then they give you a sim card with the 125 Flexi plan loaded?

Pretty much yes. Or you can take it for R827 pm x 12 months on MobiCred.

Either way if you can afford the cash price, you will save quite a lot seeing that you get the 2 years airtime.

The same phone goes at the same price at Takealot without the added airtime

Have you ever checked how much you are paying for calls, sms's and data on flexiplans? You might find it's not worth very much and you're locked in to those prices when you go over R125.

Why would you want to go over R125 ? Just don't use it .. it's not like you are forced to or paying for it.

Definitely not. More spec too marginal to justify almost R2k extra for essentially a budget device.

Might as well go Note 9.

I ordered it for R4.9k. Importing isn't an option for me, as I get concerned about warranty issues. Would rather spend a couple hundred more locally.

As for Note 9s debate - looked at reviews fairly extensively. The screen is a downgrade (matters for me) and in many ways its note too much faster (or even slower) than the Note 8 Pro. Also, the similarly priced import is 64GB vs. my order's 128GB.

I can't really comment on the comparison to the Note 9s specs but I just want to note that I too opted for the 128GB version and it's such a luxury to not have to constantly worry about space running out on your phone :)

Yep, big deal for me. Current phone is a 16GB S5. Runs out of space all the time and often slows down to a crawl. Definitely a plus.

Note 9s is decent, but seems a little "sidegrade" than upgrade. Comparisons were favouring Note 8 Pro, so it seemed like the good choice...

I actually prefer 64g max simply to avoid the temptation of storing/downloading junk.
Keep the basics and the rest goes to cloud.

Correct, 9s is just a teaser with the official 9 the 9pro and the 9pro max launching next week.

Theres a significant increase in battery power on the 9's tho. Also they opted for QC instead of MT chips.

5k is still a good price for a smartphone and it has good resale.
