The Official Xiaomi Thread

Just to let you know, Note 9S 6GB/128GB on special on Takealot today for R4299.00. On their Ultimate Checkout Sale. Cheaper than the 4GB/64GB version also on special for R4599.00 Weird.

R 3199 still a good price for Redmi Note 8 4/64 GB.

Received my GF's Redmi Note 9s yesterday and set it up for her.
I see that Xiaomi still has their crappy ads baked into the OS.

Should be very easy to remove those. Find the apps with ads and switch off (receive recommendations). While at it use brave as default browser instead of Mi browser and replace App vault with the google news (this might be a nova launcher feature). I have never seen an ad since I took out a few minutes to make the necessary changes/tweaks.

And Chrome as a browser instead of Brave? I like the cards that Chrome provides.

Chrome is fine too. Personally I prefer Brave due to how fast it is and ad blocking. Switched to it on PC and never looked back then did the same on phone as well. But chrome will work well also

I also have the global variant so I guess we're in the same boat. Let me know if and when you get the update then I can also check.

My update notification appeared this morning. Update was quick and painless although it did reset my default apps . My wife, who has the exact same phone that I do (RedMi Note 8 Pro), purchased on the same day, is yet to receive the update. I'm still of the opinion that these updates are staggered - probably to prevent their servers from being overwhelmed by everyone trying to update at the same time.

Legend, mine also shows the update now. I think you are correct saying it is staggered. Will update when I get home over the wifi.

Connect Devices has the normally Mi 10 it still has the 108MP camera. https://www.connecteddevices.co.za/...MI8NS7ioi76wIV6oBQBh3BVQ6sEAQYASABEgIRD_D_BwE

The Mi note 10 you can also get from connected devices, usually this you can get from Takealot and other retailers for around R1000 less than Connected devices but its not listed anymore even on the distributors website (Mia Africa).
