I saw the Doogees in Cash Convertors the other day. Never heard of them before, but then that was true of Xiaomi as well way back when. Are they as reliable as Xiaomi? I really like Xiaomi and would prefer to stay with them but i can't take much more of this backup Vodafone tablet i'm using,if i don't correct this soon it's going to get stuck against some wall
I would really stay away. Bought one for the old man. It was a nightmare. 5000mAh battery couldn't last 1hr. Dead pixels. And the worst was ads kept popping up all over the phone.

For budget stick with Xiaomi or Redmi. Can't go wrong with them.

Not just innocent ads either, Doogee was one of the main brands sold with Triada installed.

i have 3 quotes now, one ridiculous one of 2k (bought the phone for 3.4k) so that one is out. But even the cheapest one is half of what i paid for the phone. So now the question becomes do i repair it or can i get something with similar/better specs for less than shelling out for the new Note 9 pro? Gearbest and Banggood doesnt seem to ship to SA for anything i have looked at. Anyone familiar with Sunsky online and know if they are reliable? they seem to ship to SA still.
Have used Sunsky numerous times. Really can't recommend enough! Fantastic service from their end. They do what they say :)

Is the Mi Band good?

Tempted to get a Redmi from MiPhones but their T & C's says: "We offer a manufacturers software warranty only for 6 months"..doesn't sound great. Anyone done a warranty claim with them before?

Dunno about MiPhones, but I had a Mi Band 4 for a year, before upgrading to a Band 5.

Both are great for the price. When I walk with my son and daughter, the step counter between our 3 bands is virtually identical. I often swim with mine as well.

Great monitor measures three same as a pro Braun monitor.

The battery on the Band 4 lasts me about 4 weeks with my semi-optimised settings. The band 5 lasts 3 weeks and 2 days on average.

Biggest difference between the 2 is the small increase on screen size on the Band 5. (Small, but it makes quite a big difference...)

The charger on the 5 is also far better and it saves the strap from wearing out.

My 4's strap broke ten months in. A replacement strap locally is half the price of the new Band 5 so not really worth it. Importing also doesn't make sense unless you have a bunch of stuff to pool together and order on Banggood or AliExpress

That is a very good point with the charging cable. The 5's cable is miles better.

I was sceptical from the start with the Band 4 charging cable, so I filed the sides of one of the charging cradles down till it fit without removing the watch from the strap. A piece of elastic Velcro then holds the charger into the body while charging. We have 2 Band 4's in the house (about 18 months old) and both of their straps look like new.

PS: It's very easy to fill a big box for shipping via BangGood

Admittedly, I'm probably the dumbest guy on MBB. But, I know stuff that's not too complicated. As a person that has to daily deal with ANC supporters it's not hard to impress. I know a little....they know **** all lol.

And so we moer on. I'm Technically trained from way back. So I try always to advise correctly and not let them waste money. Why do I do it? I don't know. As much as I sometimes despise the ANC and their supporters.... I have a job to do. Fairly. And not cheat or steal from them. That is not my way. When I see a TV that needs to be fixed..... I see the Technical challenge and not the person that brought it in. That's why I'm probably still poor.

Yeah. I still take pride in my work. I never wanna change that. I'm a CRT tech. Not a Politician.

I see sets that sometimes last up to 4 years after I last fixed them. Customers bring them back to me only. That is my reward :giggle: .

And that makes my effort and time worthwhile. Pride in jobs well done. Fairly.

Any decent smart watches that are compatible with Xiaomi phones? Anyone imported and tried out any of the Xiaomi watches available out there?

Been using a Samsung Galaxy Active with the Note 9 Pro. Working like a dream.

P.s. got the watch around BF for 1.5k

Hmm... interesting. You don't find yourself missing anything being a Samsung centric watch and thus perhaps works best with a Samsung phone?

Will check it out and compare with other suggestions

Everything works from samsung health to the NFC Payments.

Does the active 2 then make more sense, better battery life, sleeker design, newer features - and being future proof to some extent? Have always loved the elegant but simple look of the active 2. Ben 10 watches worry me due to how huge they are and the rugged looks despite steller batter life that spans weeks.

Must admit that NFC payments is a key selling feature for me.

Active 2 definitely has more features. its double the price though. The battery life on the samsung's is like 1-2 days though. Why not look at a Huawei watch?
