The Official Xiaomi Thread

You just made me cancel that order I just placed on Amazon UK

So confused, I don't think 5g is that important to me but maybe better screen and cameras.

Is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro 6/128gb UK version compatible to work in South Africa on our 4G bands? Price is £260 which comes out to 5.2k before shipping. Looks like great value to prices locally and want to buy this. Or do you think I should wait a few days?

Always good to buy a tech item that is somewhat future proof. So for me 5g will be something i'd be looking at having on my next phone. Since they are releasing 3 different ones, I'd suggest waiting it out and see what launches and at what price point. From thereon you can make an informed decision as you'll be able to compare the Amazon offering to the SA one.

All you can do now is speculate and hope since there isn't much data to work with. Be patient for the next few days to a week and see what launch prices are - then make the move.

I finally solved the system gestures not working with MIUI 12 on my Mi10T.

I sold it and bought a OnePlus Nord…

I'm surprised you gave up the 10T.

Does the Nord have a comparable chipset? Which model in particular?

Will anyone answer? Are there any problems with restrictions or play store for this chinese phone?

If you buy a phone there is a Global version and a Chinese version.
Global version works with Google apps.
Some manufacturers also have an EU version then there are some extra settings to set your search engine etc. since Google lost some anti-trust lawsuits in the EU.

You can also use this site to check network compatibility, most phones now support worldwide bands.

If you buy the Global version, there are no issues. If you buy the Chinese version with GAPPS you will not have issues until it updates to MIUI 12,5

Just wanted to make a quick update about my Note 10 Pro journey so far.

Unlocked the bootloader and flashed on a very stock rom on the phone and it honestly feels like a Pixel 4a in terms of speed, aesthetics and general day to day performance. Been using it over the past week or so, and I've consistently been getting 7+ hours of SOT(with a bit of gaming, navigation, music and video streaming), which is damn impressive.

I do miss some of the MIUI features such as the floating apps feature(split screen works but I much prefer the floating window approach). Camera performance is about the same as stock(haven't tested out G-Cam yet but others have some great results from what I've seen so far)

There's a bit of customization baked into the rom but nothing too hectic though; looking forward to seeing how the Android 12 Theme engine looks with everything put into place.

Overall I'd say if you absolutely need every ounce of performance from the device, this is the route to go but for 98% of people, the stock rom should suffice I think( as long as Xiaomi fixes a lot of the bugs introduced in 12.5)

No, it's literally part of their marketing on the box: "with easy access to the Google apps you use most".

Also.. Xiaomi are not just a 'chinese phone' as you put it... But is actually the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. In part responsible for changing entire mobile ecosystems in many developing countries, and disrupting markets with offerings of never before seen value, without compromise.

You may notice much positive feedback in the several pages of this thread. Many who have gone Xiaomi, have never looked back. I expect you shan't be disappointed, if indeed you do decide to join the fam. But it's just my 2c..

Picked up a Poco F3 6/128 to replace my mi 9. Amazing value for money, enjoying the experience so far, battery life (main reason for the change tbh) is so much better.

I'm looking at either the Poco F3 or the Note 10 Pro to replace my Mi8.

Apart from the Poco F3, what other options were you looking at before buying?

Looked at mi 11 but that was way too pricey, the other serious option was the Mi 10T, never really considered the Note 10 but I think its pretty similar.

Amateur! My 2 and a half year old Mi Max 3 still gets 10.5 hours of SOT!!

I am really sorry that they cut development on the Max line.

So just an update on my experience so far, purchased a POCO F3 on Friday the 25th of June through amazon germany,

3rd party seller, Recieved notification that it was shipped out on that monday the 28th.

Notified that amazon had used DHL (what a relief) tracked it on the DHL app for what felt like every hour of the day.

When i had initially placed the order Amazon had the estimated delivery date as the 17th of July, to my suprise it was delivered to me that thursday morning (1st July).

...

I've had my Poco F1 for three years now. Pretty much no issues apart from slightly reduced battery life.

I placed my order for the Poco F3 (6GB + 128GB) on Amazon.de last week. Not a third party seller, directly from Amazon, and it hasn't even shipped yet. Definitely frustrating.

It was on "special" for EUR299 including some (free) earphones. I added a EUR7 phone case and the total with (prepaid) customs was EUR358 = R6230.
