The Official Xiaomi Thread

Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of getting the POCO X3 GT.

Any thoughts or feedback to assist me in my decision would be highly appreciated.

Very very decent phone.

Switched from my Samsung S10 and Huawei P40 lite to the poco x3 GT. Screen is great. Battery life excellent like 10 x that of the S10. It has a super charger 0 to 100 in 48min and batter last 2 days or so with medium to high usage. Great for gaming and the 120Hz screen make touch feel very smooth.

It comes with UFS 3.1 which at first I didn't really care about until I saw the difference in performance when it comes to app installs and updates from play store. My s10 is slow with just and a list of 10 updates takes time. With the poco it was fast and setting up the phone for the first time had all the updates done if a few minutes.

The phone is a bit heavy probably due to the battery.

5G works great on MTN and simple needs you to set the 5G NR preferred setting in the networks option. Sadly Vodacom needed me to force enable 5G to work but does work once forced. It has dual 5G standby so you can switch between both sims for data usage quickly which is nice.

I don't use the camera at all an didn't even notice that my S10 had 4K hdr support after 2 years so in terms of camera usage I can't advise.

Paid only R6749 for mine from Takealot and was available for collection next day. Very happy with my purchase.

No AMOLED screen, though. And no wireless charging. Does it have a notification LED?

No wireless charging WTF, wireless charging really is a useful feature.
I did a LOT of research before landing on this epic Xiaomi Note 10 Pro from which I send you this message. Wireless charging seems to be missing on all the Xiaomi and Poco devices that have made their way to SA for some reason.

I suppose the idea is that you use your phone all day, don't have to charge it, and then only have to plug it in once at night before bed.

So far, the battery on this device is holding up well. The adaptive screen brightness which I usually hate also seems to work well. No way I'll be getting the 2 days of battery life out of it that some other people are reporting but it might well make it through a whole day without craving a charge.

Great phone, only problem with it for me, and the reason I wouldn't buy it, is the lack of AOD. 10 seconds is not AOD, the main advantage of AMOLED is AOD

I would like still like to see this if you dont mind please.
side by side as well as on top of each other

Apologies for the bad quality, had to find a spare phone.
There is some screen and size differences according to the pictures.

The 10pro have an extra camera bulge, thereofore not entirely flat on the counter.

No LED notification. Screen wakes up briefly. Yes no AMOLED just normal LCD. No wireless charging. I haven't found wireless charging so useful for me personally.

I've had a phone that could do wireless charging for a year, never once used it.

Enable developer options and it solves the AOD issue.
Read about that, but that isnt a solution, it is a hacky workaround. Just dont understand why they do it, besides to make you buy more expensive models? As their reasoning for battery saving or whatever is nonsense as it should be up to the user to decide.

Agreed. AOD should be AOD. If some wacky user only wants 10 seconds then they should be able to choose. The rest of us want proper AOD that is in fact AO.

I am finding the Note 10 Pro quite large. It is bigger than my Samsung S9+ and a lot bigger than a Samsung S21. But I'm liking the extra size (I've had two Xiaomi Mi Max, both of which were dropped and now have broken screens. Loved those phones, massive things)

Now if someone could just tell me how to change the default WhatsApp message tones to anything else, that would be great!

Should be similar to my Redmi 9:

Long press on the WhatsApp icon
Select App Info
Scroll down and select Notifications
Select as desired
You are not wrong

How about changing a custom WhatsApp tone to something different? Can't do that in the WhatsApp app itself, it seems...

If you have a sniff about the default File Manager app (possibly hiding in a Tools folder), you can throw custom tones in the Music folder then use the same process that you've just done to select the tone.

First of all I'm not some people. There can be only one.

Give us a lekker review over all of the phone after a week or so. Got a mate who's deliberating over the 10 pro or hold out for 11 ATM.

Will do. The review is likely to be positive.

I've already been telling people that if they are looking for a midrange phone and want the best one, then it is the Note 10 Pro.

But people are stubborn. And scared about "Chinese phones", for no particular reason.

Does it have NFC?
