The Official Xiaomi Thread

And then they'll wonder why people will get confused trying to buy a phone and just end up buying something else from a competitor instead.

Overall reviews have been rather unfavourable on the Note 11 compared to the Note 10.

Definitely one to skip this year.

The sad thing is that the Note 10 Pro's custom roms are problematic the last two months, with most Android 12 roms having poorer battery and some bluetooth connectivity and built-in speaker/mic issues, while Android 11 roms have touch issues (like long-press when you only tapped once) on newer updates.

Running the "last known good" CRdroid, but keeping an eye on the developments as I'll have to update past January 2022's security at some point.

You can confuse the bleep out of me as long as you are offering value for money. And I'm not sure I can still say that with utter confidence when it comes to Xiaomi.

I get that aspect, but now, let's say you want to order a screen protector and a TPU case for it. Now you need to try and find these online and usually there are very small dimensional changes between models, and along with poor translations of Eastern marketplace websites, you will likely have a tough time finding something that works properly.

That's all included in my equation.

I hope software support for the 13/14 Redmi Note 11 models won't get watered down as I'd imagine it cannot be easy developing and maintaining software for the 50+ phones that they release a year.

The article linked above does make some really good points, but it seems like it's the way that the world seems to be going. Release something for every niche out there.

I'd argue that choice is good for the consumer at the end of the day, but it does muddy the water a bit with so much segregation within the same product line.

Hi, I received my airfryer from Takealot today. It was listed by a seller on Takealot.

Can somebody confirm if this looks right.

Is this the correct plug?

I am accustomed to our gadgets having 2 pin plugs.

Did your airfryer also have this type of plug?

There also wasn't any protective sticker on that lcd screen. Did your lcd screen have a sticker that had to be removed? Thanks View attachment 1274742View attachment 1274746
Seller cut off the international plug and wired up that 3 prong before reboxing.

I was very happy with the Note 11 Pro Chinese Rom version's hardware and battery life. Harman Kardon dual speakers were excellent too. But as I have mentioned before, the Rom annoyed me.

If you can get the Chinese Rom sorted deep into the settings or find and install a decent custom Rom, the Chinese Pro or Pro+ are excellent.

But I have moved on. Will probably get a Poco F4 if the price is right.

Your fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave have 2 prong plugs?

I get that but who is my warranty with then?

Always check warranty period on the Takealot listing before buying. Some sellers only offers 6 months.

It may be a grey import but takealot should handle the warranty with the 3rd party seller.

Seriously..?

It looks like an Oom running an electrical shop, bought a random white plug from Checkers and converted it for use in SA.

Are you happy with buying a new item and somebody tampering with it before it's shipped to you?

It is exactly the same price at Incredible Connection. I only chose Takealot for convenience.
Yes or do you want them to ship it with a travel charger?

It says 12 months limited.

I'm actually annoyed that Takealot is doing this.

They need to be transparent. Especially with warranty related issues.

On takealot one could also see the warranty when you go to: Orders, select that order and then select return.

Many items only comes with 6 months, especially when 3rd party sellers are involved.

If you aren't happy with the one you received, just return it to them and order one form Mia Africa.

Hi guys. my phone touch screen is dying, can't is the R or D on the pad anymore.

Budget wise is about 5k. Do I just go with the 10 pro?

I'm basically saying that Incredible Connection isn't doing the same thing.

It will make them look unprofessional.

They probably source it directly from Mia Africa and Mia Africa has a batch made for the SA market.

I doubt the batch coming from an offical channel i.e Mia Africa has a Checkers plug on it.
MIA supplies both so I doubt it... https://mia.africa.com/where-to-buy/

Did you buy this one https://www.takealot.com/xiaomi-mi-3-5l-1500w-smart-air-fryer-white/PLID72992550?

What should I state when logging a return?

Does it have to be faulty
Just log a return and say that you changed your mind. Then wait for their email confirmation. I think you have 7 days to do this.

By the way, I would not be surprised if Mia Africa also provides it with the same plug.
It needs a 3 pin plug because it needs to be grounded. They probably aren't selling a lot of these here yet and I doubt Xiaomi would be suppling these with moulded South African plugs (overseas suppliers would have a MOQ for custom plugs).

Some people would not be happy with a UK plug and some people would not be happy with a plug that was fitted locally. It hard to please everyone...

I get that but who is my warranty with then?

Does Incredible connection do this to their airfryers?

Is Mia Africa doing this?

I don't like this practice.

It feels like they imported it in a private capacity & are selling it on Takealot.

i.e it isn't from an official channel and doubt Mia Africa will honour the warranty.
When I see an item listed by a seller on Takealot, I immediately assume that it is not supported by the official importers / agents in SA. That's why there is only a 6 month warranty.

So yes, it is probably what you would call a parallel import and MIA would probably not honour the warranty - Takealot would.

Would be interested to know if the air fryer from MIA directly has a proper rubber-wrapped 3 prong on it from factory.

My Philips came with a proper SA plug if it means that much.
Yeah Phillips sells a lot in SA. Same with Phillips toasters and kettles as they all need to be grounded.

I saw some people complain on Takealot that their Phillips toaster came with a UK plug but I bought the same toaster recently and mine came with a moulded SA plug.
