The Official Xiaomi Thread

Anybody have or can recommend this :

I currently have a Zyxcel fibre router which came with my contract, thought I'd ditch it and get 2 of these instead, to try and spread my wifi around the house a bit better.

I haven't done this before so just asking. How difficult is it to flash a new rom on your phone, particularly the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro?
I was looking at videos of the Pixel Experience Android 12 Rom and it's been getting pretty good reviews. It's fast, not bloated and based on stock Android 12.
Looking at the instructions, it does look complicated but then I know sometimes following instructions can look complicated as opposed to doing for real, especially if you haven't done it before.
Also, I bought my phone Cellucity so it is the Vodacom version. Hope that doesn't complicate matters further. Apparently the Pixel Experience Android 12 Rom seems to get regular Android and security updates whereas MIUI does not.
I'd appreciate some experienced feedback.
My biggest issue is the camera app.
I flashed pixel experience on my Mi 9. The stock camera app is garbage, can't use all the lenses either.

Flashed miui back.

@ All, if you run custom roms what camera app do you use??

You should play around with the various implementations of Gcam if using pixel experience. You’ll need to do some experimenting though as there are different variants by different developers, and for some of them you need to add .xml files to gain access to all the cameras.

Some good resources here

Thanks I'll have a look, when I was testing I could only find Gcam for Android 11, and I flashed 12.

You’re going to have to do some research in that case, perhaps also check the PE forums and see if there are any recommended builds that you can try

When I see ads all over the place I think malware and get nervous about installing my banking apps.

Like those toolbars for internet explorer that would install themselves without your permission. Oh Android…

Pretty nice devices though, for the price.

I have zero ads, just disable them.
Some of them are kinda hidden, so just make sure you go search in the app settings if you see an ad.

I've a 9C. I've only ever saw ads when I used files by Xiaomi. Changed to files by Google. Never another ad. And I've had this phone for around 16 months now.

Love this hassle free phone .

I'm thoroughly enjoying my Redmi 9 - if only I could have reliable notifications I would stick with Xiaomi.

Make sure that:
Autostart is on (in app settings)
Battery Saver is set to "no restrictions" (in app settings)
The lock icon is set for that app (in the recent apps list)

Thanks, I've done these steps - several times - and notifications work for an indeterminate period and then behave sporadically, for no apparent reason. It's the sheer randomness that kills me.

I even started a thread here appealing for help and it seems I'm not the only one with this problem.

Hey guys,
I don't know much about Xiaomi phones, had to buy a Redmi 9A 32GB for my wifes mother this morning.
Currently it's downloading V120.19.0QCDMIXM update.
I see it came with some unnecessary apps installed.
After the update completes I'm going to factory reset.
Is it safe to remove most of the apps she wont need?
