The Official Xiaomi Thread

Can someone (hopefully) help me solve this storage mystery. Whatsapp used to be 11.56gb, but whatever I delete eventually get filled after a few hours.

I can't find anything with disk analyzers etc downloaded from Play Store. Less than 10gb of apps and files I have access to.

Xiaomi Redmi 9C.

I've also got a 9C. Also have Whatsapp. Phone still original as bought 2020 without a factory reset.

Reminds me of those 256gb flash drives you buy for R50 at the robots. Hopefully it’s just a bug and not a scam.

I had to do a factory reset, since the storage keep disappearing. From what I've read, it's only a temporary fix (had 40mb available this morning).

I'm now looking at changing to another rom, if possible. Perhaps lineageos (?).

I wonder why your 9C is doing that:unsure:

So I want to try my hand at flashing an Android rom onto my phone. I have a Redmi 4A which I would like to play with. I haven't done this before so still at the beginning stages. At this point I have created an account on the Miui website i have also downloaded and installed Mi Unlock to unlock the bootloader.
I have opened the the app, logged in and went to the next page that requests to add my phone number. I have selected South Africa (+27) and my number. When I hit next a screen appears in the middle of the app that say "Checking for security issues ..." with a rotating wheel or circle. And that's where it sits.

I have tried it several times and on different computers. I have also tried it with my phone attached and not attached. I booted my phone into Fastboot mode then attached it to the computer via USB but still the message is displayed. It just keep running on and on "Checking for security issues ..." I am running the latest version of Miflash Unlock v6.5.406.31.
What am I doing wrong? Any ideas welcome.

I've found trying an older version Mi Flash Unlock sometimes does the trick for me. I did a Redmi Note 4X towards the end of last year, and if I recall worked smoother with the older version.

The unlock tool does some checks for ROM version and other things - you might have to get all the updates available for the phone installed (if you haven't done that already).

If you have then trying an older version like @Old_Liver said might work.

Thank you, I will look for an older version of the software.

Phone is currently on Android 7 Miui 10. Will check it out, thanks for the suggestion.
