The Official Xiaomi Thread

While trying to get into play store the phone dropped wifi a few times and I noticed I can get in while on mobile data and then turn on wifi. But if wifi is on play store just crashes immediately.
Now the phone doesn't pick up some of my 2.4GHz wifi access points at all, and connecting to any 2.4GHz AP the phone says no Internet available. It will also just disconnect from those AP's. It connects to my 5 GHz AP fine but the issue is it doesn't cover the whole house. I have reset network settings, removed all the AP's and connected again, adjusted network settings etc. Also tried changing channels on the AP's but nothing is helping (currently channels 1,6 and 12, with no interference from neighbours). My wife's S22FE is having no issues so it's not a AP problem. Now looking for another AX3 to replace the 2.4GHz only AP to have 5GHz coverage over the whole house but it's not ideal as the range is more limited. All apps and phone are up to date.

Looks like the big X is going though a bit of a tough time:

Xiaomi phone shipments fell 15.8% in Q2 '23 as market slump continues

I moved back to Samsung after 6 years with Xiaomi. No longer the bang for buck they once were. Slow software updates and man oh man, you only realise how borked their notifications are when you move back to a properly written OS.

I still like Xiaomi. But they not giving us bangers like the Redmi Note 3 / Mi Max 3 etc etc

Wife moved back to Samsung this year as well after years with Xiaomi, when the latest Redmi is basically the same as one from almost 2 years ago and it's 8k it's not the bang for bucks it used to be.

Same here. Got a S22 ultra with the trade in deal. Xiaomi is no longer the bargain they used to be. Used to be a big fan. Still have a lot of their other devices though. Kettle, Vacuum, air purifier etc. They are well built and work well.

Same, I have a note 4x then a Mi 9, the Mi 9 still rocks, but budget was a bit tight this time and the Samsung A34 beat the note 12/pro/pro+ price vs performace.
Last time I had a sammy was the S3. But 4 OS updates + 5 years security and price to performace beats the Xiaomi this time.

Yep, I'm actually quite pissed off with Xiaomi this morning as I've just realised that it's over four months since the last update on my F3.
Yip. Xiaomi!

And now they are promising 4 years of updates for the new 13T & 13T Pro - but, how often will those updates be? They could go months between updates and unlike Samsung's monthly's.

I have a Redmi Note 10s, and haven't had any issues with the phone so far. This morning I can't open the Play store, it just keeps crashing as it opens. I tried all the steps I could find online, restarting the phone, clearing cache, uninstalling updates etc but it is still crashing. Anybody else had something like this?

Might be software corruption.
Perhaps a phone shop can help you with loading a custom rom on there, or you can take a look on youtube / XDA developers.

now on my note 11 pro ,This ad ,video ,pdf etc is using too many system resources ,chrome will now close the browser .started last night ,what a piece of shiiiite

Had a problem like this on a tablet a very long time ago shoddy memory if i remember correctly

It turned out to be permissions related

Trying to recall how i solved it but it was a long time ago

I remember the option i had to get to was a slept as the ui kept crashing but other than that nothing comes to mind

I'm wondering if you guys well versed in Xiaomi can give some opinions or guidance.

I currently have a Huawei Mate 10 Pro, been going on since it was released.
One requirement I have is a built-in (OS-level preferred) call recorder.

So which phones can I look at if I want to replace my Mate 10 pro? Preferably same(ish) price as I paid for the Mate 10 pro- R14k back then- but with better performance?

We have xiaomi note 9s that has record option (but not auto have to tap record every time)

My wife needed auto record so took the plunge today and got a samsung A54 5g , changed the CSC (country code and luckily one of the ones supported by the phone does allow recording+ auto recording and doesn't play a notice either so far on this CSC -TUN )

Still have to see if any negative consequences

Played around with all the settings I could find this weekend but couldn't get it to work. Eventually I uninstalled the last 2 games I installed and now it's working again. So I assume one of them was abusing a permission or not handling it correctly. Thanks for the tip.

Xiaomi 12 T? Worth it?

Trying to setup Wifi calling on my Xiaomi Note 11 Pro which apparently supports Wifi calling but when I go to Sim settings, the "Make Calls using Wi-fi" tab which most online tutorials direct to is not there. Does anybody know a solution?

I use Cell C. I have used the same sim to do Wifi calling from my old Huawei before so it is not a network issue. The Xiaomi just does not have wifi calling option for some weird reason.
Would it be possible to test with a Vodacom sim?

My fnb sim also do not have the WiFi calling option but my MTN and Vodacom SIMs does have the option.

Just confused why it works on my old phone but not on this one. Perhaps a network to phone issue?
