Not Gearbest only as I seen it all over. Why is the Redmi Note 5A selling for more ($189) than the Redmi Note 4 ($155) that I see as a better device in almost every aspect?

I agree - very poor specs. Who can use 2gb/16gb in 2017 ? I would only accept a minimum of 4gb/64gb today. All the other specs are very average.

I still think the best buy (if you can handle a larger phone - I love it) would be the Mi Max 2.

Imho 3gb/32gb is fine for the most.
My Note 3 always has about 1gb ram free (at all times) and even with a lot of audiobooks/podcasts I'm not filling up the 32gb - have an SDcard as well for ods and sods. For those who take a lot of photos and also *need* dual sim 64gb is probably a must though.

Eyeing the Mi Mix 2 to replace my Note 3 should something happen to it & the Mi Mix 2 is on sale by then :3

Quite the interesting date to release it on, especially as it's also released just so to beat Apple to the punch with their new phone. :D

Xiaomi confirms September 11 unveiling for Mi Mix 2

Xiaomi-Mi-Mix-2-official-launch.jpg

The unveiling date for Xiaomi's upcoming Mi Mix 2 smartphone has been officially confirmed. In a teaser image posted on Weibo, the Chinese company has revealed that the Mi Mix successor will be made official on September 11.

Nothing else about the phone is officially confirmed at the moment, although rumors/leaks so far indicate the device may come with a dual rear-camera setup. It's likely that bezels will be even thinner this time, and the handset is also said to offer 3D facial recognition support.

Talking of specs, benchmarks have revealed details like Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB RAM, and Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The Mi Mix 2 is rumored to sport a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a 2540x1440px resolution, and come in 128GB and 256GB storage options. Battery capacity is said to be 4,500mAh.

Google Camera HDR+ Port Updated with Zero Shutter Lag, More Xiaomi Device Support, and Major Bug Fixes

As we reported earlier this month, Google Camera was ported with working HDR+ to any devices that used a Snapdragon 820/821 or 835 chip (with the exception of the ZTE Axon 7, according to reports from other users). It has also been reported to work on certain Snapdragon 4XX or 6XX devices such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, though this requires the devices to have the Camera2 API enabled. Since the initial, rather buggy release, the Google Camera port has received updates to fix major bugs, bring more Xiaomi devices on board, and has also introduced Zero Shutter Lag for automatic HDR+ mode........

This should vastly improve the camera methinks. As the actual hardware seems like it's far more capable than the software is allowing.

I did post some result pics in this thread some pages back. If you Google you should get some more as well. Trust me its well worth it. Only sad part is you need to root to enable Camera 2 API, but that is it.

Wow. That's a major difference in picture quality. Hmmm...might give me something to do this weekend :D

I take it I'll need to unlock the bootloader on my Note 4 before I'm able to root?

Yeah sorry, only way I know is to unlock Flash TWRP, SuperSU and root it.

I'd not mind doing that but since it borks fingerprint authentication with my FNB app, it's a no go. I use it far too much to sacrifice it for the 1% of the time I need higher quality pictures taken at night :)

Root, add persist.camera.HAL3.enabled 1 to build.prop, unroot and off you go?

Don't know how FNB app works if its purely a root check cause you can unroot after changes.

The Duracell Bunny of phones. Although I'm not sure if they're able to still claim that after their last debacle :D

8 hours of SOT is pretty impressive. And that's with 2 SIMs in there as well? I haven't been doing that well with my MI MAX and it's giant battery. I do have dual WhatsApp apps installed. And they are always pinging me with messages which can't help...

2 sims, 1 for data 1 for calls. And i have the full load of social apps etc loaded, so its not like the phone is empty of battery draining apps. this is my 3rd charge since getting it, and i'm VERY impressed.
