I think MIUI 9 beta ROM is available for all Xiaomi Phones because I Received the update on my Redmi 2 Pro and Xiaomi did state the Redmi 2 would be in the last batch of phones to receive it.

Just checked now. Says no system updates available. Still on 8.7.5.25.

Edit: Redmi 4A.

Just experience talking.

Please enlighten us about this so called fake hardware?

Side Note: Xiaomi A1 = Ford Figo vs Nokia = Mercedec C Class. I have way better things to spend money than dropping R10K on a phone so the Figo (R3K) would do, esp seeing that its the cheapest "Pure" Android you gonna get.

Oh and both phones have proprietary camera HAL's.

The issue with the Xiaomi camera app being used I believe is to do with the fact that it has two camera elements (Xiaomi A1). Google might still be able to replace the app with their own version down the line

He's referring to the fake sensor in the Note 2.

I believe Xiaomi claimed it to be a Samsung sensor when it was actually a knockoff Chinese brand or something to that effect

This, they claimed it was a Samsung/Sony or Omnivision sensor, but it turned out to be a clone. Even worse is that on some models it was an 8mp interpolated to 13mp.

You can check which version camera you have by opening the dialer, typing *#*#6484#*#*, selecting Version Information and checking the Front and Back camera values

My RN4 is ofilm_s5ke8 for the front and ofilm_s5k3l8 for the rear, both which are Samsung chips (allegedly)

So I fiddled and set a data limit, cause I couldn't find the page where it shows data usage per app.

Now there's always a notification about my data usage. By default it's set to "unknown data plan"

But once set I can't figure out how to unset it. It's annoying the crap out of me.

If you know China the way I do... 90% of the stuff that come from them are cloned. Even Parts inside name brands can and do get cloned. Stayed/Worked in Guangzhou for 3 years. Our main problem was that we would contract something out and they would make it for 3 to 4 shipments and then swap some components to cheaper ones. Only way to catch this was to test every batch properly, and even then we had some "clones" slip in. So I am very well aware of cloned parts.

What confuse me re his statement is that Xiaomi is very much a a clone product made on the cheap. To expect 100 original parts 24/7 is kinda like not gonna happen. ie: Fake Samsung you will get, a fake fake not so much... get what I am saying :D

I had a colleague who sent a part off to China to get copied. They copied it so well even the scratches from the transportation were in the exact same spot.
