I really hope this isn't true...what makes Xiaomi quite an interesting company is that they innovate with (mostly) original ideas.

So got the MIUI 9 update today...FINALLY!
Seems like the update rolling out to MI6 users
Someone was asking of the security patch..It now has the security patch level as "2017-09-01"

So far I have noticed a big difference in speed when opening apps...Its much faster

Yup I've noticed too. On note 4x, system is noticeably faster.

On MIUI 8 on the RN4 whenever I receive an email via gmail, the notification says "1 New Message".

Under the MIUI 9 Dev Rom it showed a message preview, which was pretty handy to have as you know what the email is about before opening the native gmail app.

Now under MIUI 9 Stable it went back to the awful generic notification

Rather sad - phone was partially working - but when I tried to remove the sim cards it completely died.. the actual sim card holder is a bit bent.

They're going to collect the phone for a repair quote :wtf:

Yip - waiting for them to confirm the phone is being returned to a new condition... I'm curious to see what state it'll be returned in - if it is "new", it just shows how other companies shaft you.

That's what I'm worried about - so waiting for them to get back to me.

So they want me to pay for the above, if more damage is found, they'll revise the quote - and not refund me if I do not want to continue with the repair.

Please note that the tech is quoting on the display assembly & back cover, and the sim tray, if the tech find anything else wrong with the unit he will sent provide a revised quote as the tech is quoting on what he find wrong we will not refund you the money for the repairs that has been done.

Surely the mainboard would have suffered damage as well? I wonder why they didn't just quote on an entire new phone in the first place. Quite an arb process that they seem to have

Cheetahmobile cleaner... stay away / disable. Well known for dodgy apps with ads and sadly used by Xiaomi.
Was the main reason why I felt obliged to flash my RN3 to RR.

Install a firewall and see how much traffic goes to AWS (Amazon Web Services) among other places, even with just about everything disabled on the phone with standard MIUI.
