The Official Xiaomi Thread

Na I used the free shipping option to ship to aramex Depot in Hong Kong. No idea why they shipped it to Germany first

How much did Aramex charge you for the item you ordered? I have an account with their Global Shopper programme but I have never used it before

Banggood is a known site internationally so I don't think they will stuff you around, in fact 99% of SA problems is not buying goods online, its getting it to your door that causes frustration and delays.

EMS is a hit and miss. EMS mostly depends on your local Office.

Delivery charge was cheap. Under R100? I think. Then I got customs and clearance added. Of course

And how much was that? Just figuring out who would be the best/fastest/cheapest route if one were to order via them in the future

R641. Keep in mind I bought the xiaomi note 4 mtk in Feb this year. So it was a bit cheaper than the phones you guys are trying to buy. With DHL I think you still need to pay customs/duties

That's quite a lot of fees added on after the fact - so R741 for the admin/customs/shipping fees, give or take?

Thanks to all of you for keeping this thread alive, by the way - it's become an awesome resource for all things Xiaomi :)

I bought a Redmi Note 4 a few months back from Gearbest and used Aramex to ship. Customs was R320 all inclusive and it took about 2 weeks to arrive.

I may have a buyer for your Note 4 if you decide to sell, AJ

Anyone done a Pixel check on their Note 4? Read on the net they're quote prone to it.

Saw one, so downloaded an app... I got about 6 hot pixels.

Once you see that... You can't unsee it. Then the OCD in me would drive me nuts.

Have about 6 green ones... Doesn't phase me as much now thou... Only noticeable on boot up.

Too scared to check mine but I know my old Note 2 had a few groenies

Get the Rose Gold

Best thing is that it has 'Afrikaas' as supported language ...

Damn, that is one nice phone tho' good specs for the price.

I just don't like the drop to the 625, if it was the 650 I'd snap it up.

625 = Battery life so that is a plus for me. Note 4 has grate battery life.

Back on my Mi 5 now for a week and literally see the % drop is painful. Yes the device is super smooth and everything just flows, also the camera is way better but dammit I need a phone to last more than 8 hours without a charge. If it wasn't for fast charging on Mi 5 It would have been in the bin already.

So yeah that Mi 5X looks super sexy at this moment.

Maybe its a feature as we all have the same :D

Doesn't bother me at the moment, but apparently it gets worse - I'll check in about 5 months

I came from an LG G4, want to see battery drain, you look at it and it just goes down a percent. Even my Note 3 on the 650 is amazing, though I do miss the camera on my G4, it's been repaired will see how I feel might switch back.

I'm contemplating picking up another N4 for my old man as he is still using my old Lumia 1320 but he gets a bit annoyed with the lack of apps and the few that are there aren't updated.

He loves the 6" display as his eyesight isn't too great and he also finds the DT2W nifty.

He is set in his ways so I am hoping I can convince him to go Android. Battery life is also an important consideration as he currently gets around 4 days out of the Lumia and would probably be a bit mad at me if he had to sacrifice that :D
