My RN4 is ofilm_s5ke8 for the front and ofilm_s5k3l8 for the rear, both which are Samsung chips (allegedly)
I'm getting S5k3M2 and OV5670 on my Redmi Note 2

I wonder if the prices of the Note 4 and Max 1 will come down in price now that their replacements are out. It doesn't seem like it...

I have been comparing Note 4/4x to the new Mi A1. Stock Google looks good and the camera should be an improvement. An extra GB of Ram and double the storage is also good stuff Battery life is going to take a knock with the reduction in battery size on the A1. Then there is price. I am trying to find that near $100 extra value in the A1 over a Note 4/4x...

I am really looking forward to a proper GSMArena A1 review, but which one, on face value is the best value?

I would say the Note 4 is very good value for money and despite the small niggles MIUI has, it's a pretty solid ROM and I much prefer it over stock Android.

There are just too many small features I'll miss if I ever had to return to stock Android.

If you want to see what the Note 4 is like let me know. I'm in your neck of the woods until Thursday/Friday if you want to meet up and check it out

The MI Mix 2 looks so much better than the iPhone X. Xiaomi played their cards close to their chest by releasing the Mi Mix 2 yesterday.

im no iphone fan but i thought they pretty much nailed it while the mix 2 fell flat on its face especially because of the camera.

iphone managed to keep only the space that matters for the cam and earpiece

This. Poor old Apple. They used to set trends now they just try to follow them.

Thanks, but I don't want to hold one because then resisting a trigger pull will be impossible. I'm slightly leaning towards the Mi A1 because it will be a different experience instead of an incremental upgrade if I went Note 3 to Note 4. I am waiting for a battery result from GSMArena though, before I pull the trigger. I also see that Gearbest pricing is still launch inflated so that needs to settle first as well.

Also looking at getting Mi A1, but still have to decide as I don't really have a reason to get a new phone (Other than just the geek in me)

Side note: Was worried about battery when moving back from 4100 mAh Redmi Note 4 to a 3000 mAh Mi 5 but the fast charging more than makes up for the loss of 4 days on a single charge.

Mi 5 can make 2 days on a charge (Normally ending a day 1 with about 55-60% battery left). This was with Bluetooth, Data and Wifi being always on. Goes from 0 to 100% in 1h30.

You make a good point re fast charging. With the slow charging of my Note 3, if it never came with the 4000mah battery it would be an issue and top ups would not achieve enough of a charge up.

As I am in and out of my office all day, there are more than enough 30-60min times when a fast charge would fill up the smaller A1's battery. Mooi, that's not a con on my list anymore....

I'm pretty sure Mobile In Africa will take their sweet time to bring in these devices officially so just need to wait for Gearbest pricing to settle before I pull the trigger. If R/$ could go below R13 again that would be great :-/

With the launch in India yesterday, $235 is where we should be seeing pricing at Gearbest. The current $275 for black is too much to stomach - will push the phone into R4k with SARS costs

That's why we need Xiaomi to sell their phones directly to us and not through a distributor I'm pretty sure Xiaomi only sells in china and India while the rest of the countries get their phones through distributors
