The Official Xiaomi Thread

Two questions please:

1) My daughters brand new Redmi Note 4 reboots constantly - more than 10 times a day. She says it seems to be most prevalent when she is in the Settings app and when she loses signal on the wifi or cellular that it happens - Any ideas on a fix for this.

2) Apart from the above issue, we love the phone and seriously considering moving the whole family off iphones on xiaomi. MIA.africa has very limited stock, Where is the secret place that you guys get your xiaomi phones from?

Is she on Telkom Mobile by any chance? I had the same issue with my dad's phone. Put him on EDGE temporarily which seemed to solve the issue.

Some of us get from Gearbest, or Geekbuying, or other international marketplaces. You can check out the first post in this thread for some pointers

:)

Yes, she is on Telkom Mobile - I will try putting her on Edge - are you suggesting that when on Edge it is more stable but when you go back to LTE it is unstable?

Im checking out gearbest now and think I will try them out - Thanks for your help!

I think it's something like that. My folks stay out on a farm though so that may be part of the issue. That said, my pop never had the issue when he was with Vodacom and it seems to be a TM issue

I would love to know if the firmware is different from the Global rom as the global rom should not have any stability issues at all. Something doesn't seem right if the issue is only with TM.

My dad's phone is the same as mine right now - Global ROM, stable 9.2.2.2(NCFMIEK). Only difference is he is TM and I am VC, and his is light grey in colour and mine is black. I have a secondary TM SIM installed into mine and I also suffer from the reboots when I activate the TM SIM and use the data connection on it when out on the farm where my parents stay

Also does this also happen with custom roms like LineageOS for example.

Can also try to download and re-install the ROM pack : http://en.miui.com/download-309.html#468
Just make sure to choose the right one, at the top.

Hello friends

I'm interred in buying a xiaomi redmi 5 plus but I never owned a xiaomi before. How good is it?
And what is the difference between global and international version?

You'll never leave the brand after owning one. Just swapped my mom over from a S6 EDGE to a Mi A1 and she is in heaven

MIUI is something you will like or hate, at least that's how it was for me. I couldn't stand it, and it's one of the biggest downfalls for me. I can't wrap my mind how they can make phones that awesome (spec and price wise) and slap on that bloatware. Now, I understand some people like it, and you might too, so this is nothing more than my opinion.

I think the Chinese version comes with a MediaTek SoC, and the Global version comes with a Snapdragon (Snapdragon is boss, great for battery life). At least that's how it is with the Note 4, which is what I have.

Xiaomi is the first brand that made me wonder why I blew almost 9k on an HTC a few years ago. I just can't justify spending more on a flagship from another brand (even HTC, which I loved :(). You get really great hardware.

Guys, I want to replace my xiaomi red note 4 for the sole reason that the camera quality is shyte and after a year I can't stand it anymore. Are the new Xiaomi phones better or should I just get myself the new Nokia 8

Nokia 8 is R6200 from cellucity and maybe Vodacom. If you interested, pretty good price for a flagship

Cameras are still crap.
