The Official Xiaomi Thread

if you dont like MiUi then why dont you just download pixel launcher from xda and have the "google Experience "
Last year when I was in market to buy phone, I wanted Nokia 6 due to pure Android but couldn't wait the one extra month before they sold in South Africa as I desperately needed a phone. So I bought my note 4 and was so pleasantly surprised that I stuck with it. I like parts of MIUI, but the camera is a sore point. I don't want to hack my phone for the simple reason being I want to keep my phone secure as possible.

If the hardware is good but the software is letting it down, then I might as well buy a Nokia 8 scirocco as my daily driver and then leave my note 4 as a spare or sell it for some cost savings.

Is it easy install Google camera software or do I have to put the phone into developer or other mode?

Thx

Very easy, it's a Normal APK file.

I wonder if this is hardware or software related. If software related, would LINEAGE OS then be a good choice?

Both, the sensors are not great to start with & the software can be improved on but it won't make up for the crappy sensors unfortunately.

You right on that and actually that pure android experience is what made me change from my Samsung note 3 over to my nexus

Currently own a Mi Max...
Contract was up for renewal, looked at some options and settled down for a Hauwei model...
......
1 week later, I am back on my Mi Max :crylaugh:
......
On paper, the Hauwei looked impressive, close to same specs as the Mi Max, except screen size, but it was lacking in a few areas and the laggy response of navigation left me desiring my very responsive Mi Max!

Edit: In the process of unlocking the Mi Max to load Oreo :D

Edit 2: Phone unlocked, loaded Lineage OS 15.1 Oreo 8.1, So far, everything is testing ok. :D

Edit 3: USB Tethering works again :D

Edit 4: Battery usage looks good :D

Edit 5: 2 days in and I am liking Oero 8.1 very much, a vast majority of new features not in Nougat, downloaded some MIUI Apps, yes, they have a few good Apps like the Calculator and Notes, etc. There was hardly any noticeable difference between MIUI 8 / Marshmallow and MIUI 9 / Nougat.

Since the recent update on my Mi6 I have been having some notification issues. When I receive an email on the gmail app or a message on Telegram there is no audible notification and there is also 2 notification badges.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

So my note 4x is not recognising any of the sims that's installed. Just happened today. Says no Sim card at the top row. Restart hasn't done anything.

Anyone else had this problem?

OK nevermind, the sim tray popped out by itself and was sticking out by like half a mm. I had a cover on so didn't notice.

Yeah I am experiencing this.

So I've downloaded all files need and gotten the code to unlock bootloader, just not sure if I should flash Lineage. Those who have, can you give me some insight.

Is it worth it? Or are the changes minor and not really worth the trouble? Forget about the bloatware since I've seen that's a huge reason to flash for some People. It doesn't bother me.

Note 4x.

Interested in this.

Also is there an app or functionality like second space for lineage? I'm using that function currently would be great if I can still use it with lineage
