There is always ways and means to do it, but yeh not wise if you are still under warranty
Rebooted the phone and it got stuck at the bootloader screen (bootloop), taken it to the corner shop to see if they can fix.

Argh. My Note 4s speaker or something decided to stop working.
Can't hear anything when receiving calls. Also can't hear vidoes when they play.
But the phone does work on speaker phone, hows that possible?

Doesn't look like it. Weird that notifications, speaker phone, etc sound works, but playing videos with sound, or trying to receive / make calls and no sound.

The Note 4 / Note 4X had (might still have? Haven't switched mine back on again) a bug, if OK Google/Google Now is switched on the sound doesn't work when making phone calls. It happened intermittently.

Won't be the proximity sensor, as that won't have anything to do with videos.
Not sure if this phone has two separate speakers.
Cant even do a factory reset at the moment. Phone is encrypted.

I'd do a backup and flash a custom rom like RR or LOS.
Already running LOS.
The videos sound came back after continual fiddling.
Will try reload the ROM sometime during the week.
Yes, exactly that and it is not recognized by the pc when plugging in the usb cable.

Need EDI flash, that requires Perms from Xiaomi you can try the forums or MIA SA
Or you can try flashing the Recovery image from China ROM in Test point mode.
Thanks, I am busy researching this, it seems I need to make up a deep flash cable or open the phone and short the test points.
Reloaded everything - still no soundGuess I'll have to see what it costs to repair.
FFS - for some reason my device hasn't been backing up to Google Drive...seriously gonna toss the phone.
