Great specials on the mi.africa website. Discounts applied when added to your cart.
I ordered the MI8, bluetooth kettle and two bluetooth headphones for R5300. A bargain. Just play around with what you add to the cart, makes a huge difference on the discounts applied.

So I have been struggling with Android Auto on my Mi Max 3. Worked fine on my Note 3 2 years ago and my Mi A1. Everytime I connected my Max 3 to the car via USB cable, Android Auto would open on the phone but give a red screen of death with a communication error 16.

After some searching and reading, it turns out Miui on Oreo does not play nice wih Android Auto when the phone is using dual apps. So I deleted Android Auto, killed all my dual apps, cleared all dual apps history and account info which also required a reboot. On reboot, I installed Android Auto again and set up the app. Connected my phone to the car and Android Auto is working perfectly again.

Apparently Miui Pie build fixes this, bit I did not dig too deep to confirm. OnePlus users have also had the same issue as a result of their phone's offering of "dual apps".

I wanted to share this in case someone experiences the same struggle

I have 2 x Mi Max 3 phones. I have never heard of Android Auto. My Mi Max 3 phones have been trouble free

Can confirm, when I got my Poco, Android Auto did not connect. Tried again in December when I was on leave and it worked like a dream. Thought nothing of it till your post. Poco got Pie late November early December if I think about it.
