True this.
I played with the Redmi Note 7 & the Mi 9 for a few weeks. Both are good phones. Note 7 slightly on the large and heavy side but usable. I used the Global Open Beta rom to fix the disappearing notification icons and other minor issues. But the Global Open Beta rom is coming to an end this month.
Currently jumped to EMUI.

You will have to install the Google suite of apps yourself. Takes minutes.

IIRC they stopped allowing you to do that by no longer releasing bootloader unlock codes. But I may be wrong...

I set this in the app and on the phone before I had it fixed and wiped and now I can't find the settings to hide these popups (Mi6, oh yeah, screen cracked again so fsck this phone).

1. Settings - Lock screen & password - Wake lock screen for notifications

I'm thinking of replacing my phone but I want the same speed as the current.
The Note 7 has 2 gigs less ram, the Redmi 6A at home is a bit slow as well (I have this as a backup phone).
Will see what Xiaomi has to compete with OP.
