The Official Xiaomi Thread

My first impressions for the Redmi Note 9S

MIUI 12 probably only later the year. Not that I really care. Just wish phonecall recording was working again. (think that was an Android change though)

I've had a couple of Nokias, then two Samsungs (never again), a Huawei (was good) and now a Redmi 4A (best of them all).

Definitely getting another Xiaomi device... Finances was whoopsy daisy of late tho.

Had 3 Oneplus devices, Xiaomi Mi9, and now a Huawei. Thinking of getting a Note 10 or Note 20 but you say never again for Samsung. Why ?

Hi there peeps.
My Nokia 8 has just died, and I've been referred to Xiaomi as a potential replacement. Seems that the Redmi 9S and Mi Note 10 are both available for reasonable prices at the moment.

Saw a few positive Redmi 9S, it looks decent, but it is lacking the NFC and AMOLED screen that the Mi Note 10 has. Anyone tried the latter?

Nope. But if I had the money I wouldn't think twice to get the Redmi Note 10, although I feel it is too expensive for a smart phone. Just got the 9s as it was within my budget. Have never used NFC. Screen is awesome even though it is not AMOLED.

I've been hoping to try out an AMOLED screen for the longest time, haven't had one yet. I do use NFC, mostly for FNB Pay (helps not to have to carry a wallet to the local Spar, but I always have my phone with me). Neither of these things is a deal-breaker but I would like to have them.

But does it justify the extra R3.7k? I dunno

Thanks for your review BTW. Very helpful.

The mi note 10 is the one with that amazing 108mp camera also right?

Correct. Though it bins adjacent pixels to produce a 27MP image (still more than enough IMO). It can be used in 108MP mode, but from what I understand, one shouldn't bother with that unless you like your storage getting filled up more quickly for no benefit.

Yes. I have it. Best camera I've ever had on a phone. 1.5 days battery with medium usage. It's amazing overall.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm definitely very tempted let me tell you.

What are the drawbacks? Would you buy it again if it got stolen?

I might need to flash the latest one on my mi9t. Not getting the miui 12.

What's the best way to import a Xiaomi?

1. We ship all over the world. Just buy and enjoy our service, we ship it to your door.
2. Total delivery time includes processing time and shipping time, tracking number will be provided . We declare the package at low price to help you avoid importing customs tax.
2. The total shipping cost is calculated by package weight.

Bit worrying.

I've used them for phones before and paid with PayPal, never had any problems with them.
Can get them for around $700 from shops in the city but will only be back in SA beginning of August.

Bought my mi9 from Giztop and arrived in 8 days
Cost was just under 9k for everything, just ask them to undervalue invoice and keep checking them if they shipped.
Interesting. Approximately how much did you pay in customs? The Poco F2 is $519 on their site so I'm not sure how much more I'd need to pay.
