The Official Xiaomi Thread

How's that little pop-up camera? Still working hundreds? Do you use it a lot?
I have the non pro Mi 9T. Such an awesome phone that I'll run it till its battery life suffers.

I don't really take selfies. Make a couple of WhatsApp video calls a month. Popup still working flawlessly.

These are special imports so no local support with spares etc. That is why I was commenting on Mia Africa.

No need for the snark if you actually understood then comment.
I was genuinely trying to help, snark unintended.

Just want to post something that I had to dig deep to find. For anyone on MIUI unrooted and wants to install YouTube Vanced. You are required to turn off MIUI Optimisations in developer options.

If you are in developer options and can't find MIUI Optimisations go to reset to defaults a couple of times. The option will then show up.

After installing the latest YouTube Vanced you can then turn on MIUI Optimisations again.
Only problem is that resets preferences on many / all apps. It is a major schlep to restore the preferences one by one.

I prefer to get the pre-compiled single file Vanced apk and install that.

That may take a few years. My Max 3 is now 2 years and 4 months old. The battery still lasts 2 days between charges, with about 10 hours of screen-on time.

Redmi Note 10 Pro / Max looking like a proper upgrade... But I must resist
You think so?
I don't. Not if you're coming from a Note 9 Pro at least.
What draws you to it? What phone do you currently have?

The main thing for me is the SOC, which it has a 732G, and despite that it's performing similar in benchmarks to the Note 9 Pro with a 720G.
The stereo speakers don't interest me.
The screen being 120Hz AMOLED doesn't really get my juices going. If it were a 765G with that 120Hz then OK I'm interested.
WiFi speeds are half that of the Note 9 Pro, 330/283Mbps vs 619/551Mbps. I mean really? Only 330Mbps down? How am I supposed to use my non-existent and imaginary gigabit connection on this phone?

Worse battery life. Amounts in minutes. No clue why so I assume it'll be buffed out in software updates.

Faster storage at least.

The camera is much better however, even though it takes 12MP images with nonacell binning, the quality of those images is definitely clearer and brighter than the Note 9 Pro's 16MP tetracell binning.

AMOLED + 120hz does it for me.

Music to my ears. My next phone will have to have a notch or punch hole so I'll rather hang on to this beautiful screen that the popup makes possible.

My hope is that under display camera's become mainstream during the next 6-12 months so that I can completely skip the notch/punch hole.....

Good write up

Have to agree that the Note 10 Pro isn't a worth-while upgrade to the 9 Pro. A bit disappointing given how late it debuted. But perhaps the 9 Pro was just over-spec'd and hard to beat idk.

I also have no personal preference for AMOLED, and quite enjoy a good IPS. And have felt the Mi 10T (Pro) would be a great upgrade to the 9 Pro if needed. Only issue is that it costs a bit much locally, what you could get two 9 Pro's for.
