The Official Xiaomi Thread

I doubt it, not the drunk riding part - that is a fact, but because the Mi Band does not have GSM triangulation to improve accuracy it's just the way it is.

Heading out on Koelenhof road it was spot on, and comping back a couple of hours later also very accurate. But soon as I turn at the traffic lights I am in the bundus again. Seems to have an issue with placing me too far North? Poor HDOP?

Hi there, maybe someone can help me with this. I have a Redmi Note 8 Pro. When I'm at work I can't receive or make calls, when I try to call myself from my work phone or try to make a call, the signal drops to 3G and nothing happens.

When I try the same at home, I can make calls with no problem. Only difference from work to home, is at home my phone is on wifi, but I have turned it off at home and I can still make or receive calls.

Other piece of info, I put my sim into a colleague's phone at work and I can receive calls on his phone with my sim, so it has to be something with my phone.

Anyone experience something like this with any advice please.

Bought locally? Which network are you using?

First thing I would try is prepaid sims of same and other networks.

Bought through Gearbest almost 2 years ago. I am using MTN. What bothers me is the fact that it works at my home but not at the office, 5km's from each other. Never had any issues till recently.

I will try other sims in my phone but like I said my sim in others phones works, so it has to be something with the phone.

I also did a factory reset last night and that also didn't work.

Why I suggested to try other Sims is that not all frequency bands are covered by all phones. It might just be that your phone is not compatible with the bands available where your work is located.

Telkom for instance uses the 1800 and 2300 bands. Most towers may have both. But when they rolled out initially it was one or the other.

Being an imported device means the phone might not cover all our locally used bands. I bet a different network provider will work just fine in your phone. Try and see if you can get the specs of your device and which bands they are compatible with. Then check which tower you are connecting to at work and see what bands they are using.

Thanks for the advice @rodga. Is there a way to find out the details about the towers in ones vicinity?

Just bought a POCO X3 Pro from the UK Xiaomi store. Came with a Redmi smartband pro thrown in for £189.

It's the biggest phone I've ever had. I prefer a smaller phone so it can fit in my damn pocket. So feels much bigger than the Mate 20 Pro that I've got now

Yes, I must say I'm disappointed with the way phones are going in terms of size. There is nothing available in small form factor without having to pay a premium. Which is disappointing. You can compromise on specs with Xiaomi and get a budget one which will be smaller, but so will all the specs...

Need some technical assistance. My phone is updated to the latest software, 12.5.1, but since the update I have been struggling with apps closing for no reason.

I will be on the forum, go to browser to check something for like 3 seconds, back on forum and the app needs to load again.

Same with all other apps, its as if there is no memory on the phone if it makes sense. I have not changed any settings at all, it never used to be like this before the update.

The other issue is wifi. I have 2 unifi ap in the ceiling in different areas of the house, the one is a normal ap and the other the one with a bit more range. All other devices on the property is functioning normal except for my phone which disconnects from the wifi constantly. I can be 3 meters away from the normal ap and it will disconnect, reconnect, sht signal, disconnect, reconnect and its only this phone.

My Redmi 9 is on 12.5.3 - check whether that is available for your model, maybe it will solve your problems.

Try to disable MAC randomization in WiFi settings to that AP

Sounds like miui optimizations? Maybe check those settings
