The Official Xiaomi Thread

Glad to see some higher end xiaomis but then I just got the S22 ultra for 699 at telkom.
Scary that they want that price for a Xiaomi, but the 12 is going for a bit.

I see MIA Africa is advertising the Note 10S for R4499. Then they also advertise the same model Note 10S with FREE earbuds but the price is now R5199. So if the earbuds are free, why the R700 difference in price?
I did email them with this query but they are yet to respond.

What's it with Whatsapp voice notes and a black screen on my Note 8?

Everything works fine and well until I want to play a Whatsapp voice note, the screen goes black and I cannot adjust the volume or unlock the phone until the voice note stops playing.

Everything works fine and well until I want to play a Whatsapp voice note, the screen goes black and I cannot adjust the volume or unlock the phone until the voice note stops playing.

Most likely this is due to Whatsapp querying the phone's gyro status and it's incorrectly reporting back that the phone is against your ear, which puts the screen off and plays the voice note through the earpiece instead of the loudspeaker.

My R4k buds pro were free and I also got a 10k trade in.
(picked up a broken device for 600 for the trade in)

Did you really get 10k cash back promo with a Brocken device? Where did you buy your S22 ultra from for what price with Buds pro?

Yes but Its reduced to 7k from May. I got it on contract from telkom. I think the buds promo ended as well.

That’s a good deal and they already paid you? I’m still waiting to hear from them so I thought it’s a scam
Was a bit delayed, don't blame them as the response was so good. but I did get paid a few days after the date they emailed me.

Xiaomi officially announces partnership with Leica, first jointly developed phone arrives in July

The rumors were true as it turns out. Xiaomi has just informed us that it is in fact undertaking a strategic partnership with Leica, and the first imaging flagship smartphone jointly developed by the two companies will be launched in July this year. Since the rumor mill was right about the Xiaomi - Leica partnership, we think it's safe to assume it was also right about the device in question being the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, but we'll see.

As you may know, this is far from Leica's first rodeo in the mobile world. The camera company's most well known and definitely most successful such partnership so far was with Huawei, but since that company is still being affected by various US Government bans, it makes sense that Leica would want to try other things.

According to their joint press release, "Xiaomi and Leica share the same ideas regarding mobile imaging", and they're both eager to take mobile photography to the next level. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said: "Xiaomi focuses on creating the ultimate user experience, and has always hoped to explore the capabilities of smartphone photography to the extreme. Xiaomi and Leica agree with each other's pursuits and ideas" and their cooperation involves optical design as well as "tuning aesthetic orientations".

Leica Camera AG CEO Matthias Harsch said "it is an honor to announce the long-term strategic cooperation with Xiaomi", and talked about an "unprecedented deep cooperation process", adding that Leica and Xiaomi are "convinced that the first jointly developed imaging flagship smartphone makes the pioneering progress of both companies visible". He promises "exceptional image quality, classic Leica aesthetics", and "unrestricted creativity".
