Bootloader Unlocking:
I have tried all sorts of ways to get the bootloader unlocked, each app fails.

When I try to unlock via the website, is says service is unavailable. For 3 weeks now, I have not been able to submit a request to get the bootloader unlocked. Any suggestions?

I recently tried to go that route with my wife's Note 10 Pro but also hit too many roadblocks.

Her phone had a crappy outdated VodaCom firmware on and in the end I managed to install the Global release without unlocking the bootloader.

Only the official unlock tool works.

Even the official App fails with error. I will try again tonight. Maybe my phone is not supported?
I have the Redmi 9T, which I believe is the rebranded Chinese Redmi Note 9.

Edit: I downloaded the official rom MIUI 13 for this phone, and tried to do it directly on the phone, I get this message: Can't verify update Other reason. I also did a manual download of the latest official rom MIUI 14 via the Setup/Update screen, same error. I have all these roms and I can't do anything. :crying: My last option is to do a factory reset, but then I'm still stuck with this crappy MIUI 14.

My previous phone was a redmi 9T that I ran CRDroid on but I unlocked it within the first few days of getting it and didn't have any issues.

I'm not sure why you are having so much issues maybe post the guide you are following.

I ran into that exact same problem when I tried to flash the global version to my wife's Note 10 Pro.

After wasting an entire weekend the only thing that worked was : https://www.xiaomitool.com/V2/

It did have me poop my pants as the flash failed at some stage - but remarkably the phone was fine and running the global version I wanted on it.

So, I discovered I was using an old version of the Mi Unlock tool, bloody Chinese, I found the latest version via Google. Then I had to, after also finding out the hard way, my phone was not properly linked to my account, even though the account was loaded. I signed out, restarted the phone, went to that screen in Dev options to re-link the device to my account, as instructed, don't use your phone number, use your email address to log in, successful binding of phone to account. Long story short, Mi Unlock was happy, I have to wait 360 hours before the Unlock will take place. Why 2 weeks? Any how, will wait patiently to get the bootloader unlocked, then I can install MIUI 13

If you are just going to install another stock ROM then there is no need to unlock at all.

Because I am downgrading, it wants the Bootloader unlocked. If I was just reloading the latest official rom, it would install without requiring the Bootloader to be unlocked. I am using the XiaoMiTool V2.

I just updated my Xiaomi 12T Pro phone from a popup notification thinking it is just a security upgrade. Think it was around 1GB.
Just to see that it replaced MIUI with HyperOS.
Now my OS version is HyperOS 1.0.1.0.ULFEUXM
Android version still 14.

HyperOS, although partially rooted in Android 14, represents a departure from the previous MIUI custom layer. Xiaomi has designed this new operating system to offer heightened efficiency and features, such as a redesigned control center. One of its primary attractions is the seamless integration within the entire HyperOS device ecosystem.

My attraction with phones was always to get something as close to stock Android as possible so not sure how I feel about this.

What I noticed is the UI is feels much snappier and faster and swipe down setting icons have changed.

New lock screen customizable widget.

Not sure about the video play list history in settings. It works with youtube app and other video app but is rather pointless as if you lock your screen the audio goes off because that is the youtube app design. it disappears if you close the app.

The google search widget displays initializing but voice commands are not impacted so there is some bug

If you have the 9C you might want to upgrade to 13C. The Redmi 13C has been released today in South Africa (Xiaomi SA twitter) and with recommended retail price of R2999. For limited time you get free powerbank.

Not sure if recommended retail price is R2999 why Takealot is selling it for R3499

Not bad, I'll wait for the 3A to be released before I decide.

My 12 T pro didn't get any update notification sigh

I don't like them calling it HyperOS. It's just another android UI, it's a knee jerk reaction to Huawei dropping EMUI. An operating system it is not.

Same thing when people say Windows 7 is "a better OS than Windows 10". It's called a shell.

Anyways, rant over, I still get security updates on my Note 9T. For now, at least, but I am looking for a cheap new phone as it is getting on for 3 years so that won't last.

I think they just wanted a new name for marketing interoperability wtih the other software areas they are in and plan to expand to use the same OS with smart home devices and cars. That reminds me, I can't find a way to remove that big ass Smart Home button in settings. It just takes unnecessary real estate.

The new HyperOS lockscreen customization is really something special. I think this would easily be industry best at the moment. But you should be able to apply the same to the home screen, which you can't. This is stupid. The lock and home screen feel like two different themes now.

I think they will iron out the bugs as they go along.

What draws me to the A3 is the kind of throw back it has to the original A1, A2, A3 in terms of a "stock" android. OK, it is Go edition, but I loved my Mi A2 Lite and I have a Redmi A1 as second phone and it is pretty nice. I just need a fingerprint scanner for work related stuff. The Tecno Spark Go 2024 also looks promising.

The less vendor UI a phone has - the better. Some of the nicest phones I had were from the original Nexus line.
