Well, since there was a recent thread about old PC titles wanted..

I figured it'd be cool to hear what games our local gaming crowd grew up with.

So, what games did you grow up with? Which of them changed your life, made you dream, etc;

A really awesome gaming series was Quest for Glory. Had lots of fun cracking the game with my cousin and the 10 page walkthroughs to help us do it.. Also Myst was a cool game..

Showing my age here:

Ladder and Catchum under CP/M

Apple Panic, Lode Runner, Blitzkrieg on the Apple ][

Striker
Buck Rogers
Digger
Karateka
Carlifornia Games :D
Kings Quest

I guess you are a senior member :)

Well I played both of those as a kid too, lots of fun. I have Alleycat somewhere and a port of Sopwith in Linux.

Sopwith camel & Alleycat were legendary.

Ok, time turn.

The first PC game I ever played was Prince of Persia on a friends IBM XT.

Our first PC at home was a 386 and I think the first game I ever really fell in love with was Star Control 2. Then soon after I saw at a computer expo and I saw Doom and my heart nearly exploded.

Anyway, my faves were the LSL series (I think every kid got his first lay in that game!)

Star Control 2
LSL series
Space Quest series
Lost Vikings
Duke Nukem series and then 3D
Lemmings
Doom series
Wolfenstein 3D
Catacomb Abyss (was a first person before Wolf 3D, nto very well known but awesome fun)

I could go on for ours, but yeah..

Anyone remember Flashback or Another World? Quite legendary graphics for its day.

Also there was a game called Robocop 3D which had some amazing graphics.

OH MAN!

I remember Another World clearly, that game moved me boyond words.

Flashback was awesome too.

*sigh*

I've been griping to friends of mine how there aren't any nice platform games anymore.

Someone needs to remake Commander Keen with modern graphics, a kickass soundtrack and awesome puzzles and gameplay.

Agreed! But then I think your 3rd person GTA / Prince of Persia 3 style games have taken over that genre.

Yeah, but they don't have that childish fun feeling.

Games are getting too serious.

Anyone remember Cannon Fodder? :D
