The Operating System Debate Thread

Question: Can we discuss Vista too, even though its not really an Operating System - since it barely Operates and "System" implies " a coherent interaction of parts to form a working whole"?

Vista operates perfectly!

i dunno had my vista running for 3 months now

no problems :)

vista is not the devil just like linux and xp are not the devil

its a matter of personal taste, most ppl put vista down without even trying it for a lengthy period :)

vista FTW

This thread seems to have gone off topic. I thought we were talking about Dickens?

No we talking about Operating Systems. So, on topic, what does mac have that Windows doesn't?

hey guys

hey guys,

i was just wondering if there was a "patched" version of xp that took out all the bs (something i heard from my retard it teacher) .

According to him, xp is full of **** u will never need and that someone has trimmed down xp to 100mb install file, and that he uses it at home and it runs all his games and work stuff? rubbish right?

and also (cos something like this must exist) is it legal to download a "modded" version of windows if you own a legal copy???

You can make your own modded WinXP, check out nLite:
http://www.nliteos.com/index.html

You can take out any crap you don't want, streamline the install with any service pack or hot-fixes, drivers, there's also add-ons to pre-install some software.

I completely removed XP from my vista-xp dual boot. Vista runs like a dream when it's fully updated and no need to reinstall every month. As the saying goes:
"Letting XP run for more than a month is like re-using a condom 50 or 60 times. Theoretically it can work, but is sick and ill advised."
