The Operating System Debate Thread

No we talking about Operating Systems. So, on topic, what does mac have that Windows doesn't?

Time Machine - pretty awesome back up software
iPhoto - the best photo organiser on earth
Spotlight - the quickest desktop search tool on earth

Simplicity, Stability (In terms of the OS) and Ease of use.

Where windows generally slaughters Apple is on Memory management, multi tasking, Native ZIP support and believe it or not... more useful keyboard short cuts.

And i dont care what any Mac user says. Safari fsking suxors. EVERY time i have used Safari on a multitude of Macs it has crashed.

I think you got that backwards so I fixed it for you.

Could that be the porn sites trying to install malware? Here's my problem - ff is way too slow and while Camino is getting better it lacks the plugins. :)

Spotlight - never use it - Quicksilver rules the roost. iPhoto is good but aperture is great. I do love TimeMachine though - even my mother does regular back ups now.

I tried Linsux, too much of a learning curve for me, much too complicated.

And, because you failed to understand it, it is now the OSs fault?
I mean, after all, you did spend a whole day trying...

3 days?

I have a nice little 860+ page book sitting on my desk in front of me that'll help you to use Linux. It takes a little longer than 3 days I'm afraid... but, once you've got it, you won't look back.

lol - took me 15 years, and I still cannot use Windows. But, there I think, the blame is squarely on the OS.
I just never could figure out how to stop an IE crash from taking out the whole system - no matter how much I studied.
:D
