The courts are a bit of a joke lately.
It seems to me the learned judge has it right. The magistrate erred.
Each case is different, and it is right that the courts consider also the particularities of the case, the accused, etc.
We should be grateful the justice system still has regard for the unique circumstances in each case, rather than some universally applied algorithm that requires no prudence, judgment, and judicial discretion.
This is only the bail decision, folks. Unless there is a real risk of fleeing from justice, everyone has the right to their liberty until convicted in an open court. It's a basic postulate.
