There is a massive hoo-ha surrounding the ‘leaking’ of the documentation of a decade of negotiations behind the PA, Israel and allies. Arabs are everywhere trying to cover their butts and it may be the death knell for the PA.

Forget the clumsy assassinations that Mossad is continually accused of – this has the elegance and finesse of a Mossad operation. Note that (so far) damage to Israel is slight (you must have some damage – credibility) and allies have been embarrassed only (same reasons – credibility of leak). The charm of it is that it is all true and Mossad’s only effort was to leak it. Even if they are identified as the culprit, the damage is already done.

<shakes head in admiration>

Ignore what I wrote, I had my leaks confused:

http://english.aljazeera.net/palestinepapers/ Is the link to this.

Expect virulent protesting from Gary and Alan... though perhaps not, because its not their gf America thats being labeled here, so I imagine their perspective will be different :D

I dont think it paints Israel in a good light though... it shows the PA were willing to give huge concessions, but the Israeli`s were just kinda "fk you" and did what they wanted to do.

Yeah more leaks that benefit extremists like Hamas. Well done Al Jazeera *facepalm*

However IMO this is also damaging to Israel. It shows the PA were willing to make significant compromises for a peace deal.

Nothing new, everyone knew the PLO were puppets for the Zionists. About time they were publicly exposed for the apostates that they are. Thats the reason Hamas is a 'terrorist' organisation.

This just vindicates the peoples vote for Ismail Haniyeh.

Palimino, thats just a load of rubbish you wrote there. Mossad releasing the documents, only plays right into the hands of Hamas.

Actually... on the contrary, I must say I am quite impressed with the concessions that the Palestinians were willing to make. It is just a pity that the people doing the negotiation kept being undercut by those on the ground who had a thirst for blood. :(

Actually, that would be good for Israel. If "terrorist" organisations regain control of Palestine, Israel can use that to support their claim that Palestinians are an evil bunch of violent thugs who need to kept under control.

The problem is they've now been undermined by these leaks. Hamas will benefit.

So again leaks benefiting extremists. It's becoming a trend :erm:

Lol, if Hamas is a 'terrorist, extremist' organisation, I can only imagine what the filthy Zionists are.

Sauce = source FYI

This is a big deal; it should be all over (Even Wikipedia although it may be a bit soon). The papers were released at the beginning of the week to Aljazeera and all 1600 documents can be seen on their site – Transparency/Aljazeera.net. Aljazeera is analysing them and releasing them incrementally on their TV station. The raw data (all available) comprises maps, minutes of meetings, studies, drafts, etc. It all sounds like an info-dump to me and I prefer the pre-digested TV analysis but it is all available for perusal. The Arab world is in an uproar. The PA has it’s spokesgoons are out in force, weaselling, spinning and doing damage control to the best of their ability. It’s fun to watch.

Eh. I thought you'd be pleased. The leaks show how useless the current Palestinian administration is at negotiating with Israel. The Palestinian people will therefore be more informed about the uselessness of their leaders. The Palestinian people will then turn to other, more forceful leaders. Violent rocket attacks against Israel will increase, and Israel's bleats about the Palestinian threat will have more weight.

By keeping the truth covered up, the inherent violence of Palestinians was kept in check. No wonder people have been turning against Israel recently...

Yeah, that is a downside. I am sure that if Israel could have designed the release, they would have preferred to shaft Hamas. They worked with what they had. In a confrontation, remember Israel doesn’t care overmuch for Hamas and would probably prefer an opponent who is manifestly a human rights abuser and insane murders rather than the more reasonable PA where they may have to make concessions.

However IMO this is also damaging to Israel. It shows the PA were willing to make significant compromises for a peace deal.

The ‘leaked’ documents also indirectly show the Israeli negotiation stance. In other words “Don’t try what the PA tried, it’s a fail”. Many insist on believing that international opinion matters to Israel. They are a special case, fighting for survival. They don’t give a stuff about international opinion unless they have to.

You are being harsh. I didn’t say it was a Mossad operation, I said “this has the elegance and finesse of a Mossad operation”. Big difference. It has the hallmarks of a sophisticated intelligence operation and I would expect this calibre of performance from Mossad. Maybe it’s not. However, I would expect Hamas and the PA to accuse Mossad and the operation is streets ahead of their usual stupid accusations. Thus their accusations are plausible but it doesn’t matter. The cat is amongst the pigeons.

Anyway, what would Hamas do with Mossad if it ‘played into their hands’.

It's now up to the Palestinian people. Do they support those willing to compromise with Israel for peace or do they jump into bed with the religious lunatics who want to destroy Israel....

Yup. And the leaks have helped give them the power to make that decision.

I think that what will happen is that the Palastinians will be angry at how much their representitives were prepared to give up.

You’re right. Rumblings have already started. If this is a Mossad operation, even the Palestinian apologists will have to concede that it was a fine way to sow dissention among the enemy. Outwit, outplay and survive.
